Editorial Policies

Mindfully American was founded in 2023. It’s a branch of our sister company, A Piece of Travel, LLC. Our goal with Mindfully American is to offer a combination of entertainment and educational content for an American audience that spans the spectrum of topics, thoughts, and ideas. The site is self-funded and maintains its independence from external investors, ensuring unbiased and authentic content.

Mindfully American Editorial Policy:

This editorial policy was created to promote and uphold high standards of journalism and professionalism.

Accuracy and Credibility:

  • To ensure accuracy in all our content, we fact-check and verify information from reliable sources.
  • We value balance and fairness, and present multiple perspectives when applicable.
  • We distinguish between reporting and opinion pieces.

Editorial Independence:

Our content is not influenced by advertisers, stakeholders, or external parties.

If an article has been created or sponsored by a third party, we provide a clear disclosure.

Originality and Plagiarism:

  • We respect intellectual property rights and observe copyright laws.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and we check regularly to ensure the originality of our content.

AI Policy:

Mindfully American uses artificial intelligence as part of our editorial process, and we believe readers deserve to know exactly how.

How We Use AI

Our articles are drafted with the assistance of AI tools, working from detailed editorial guidelines we’ve developed and refined — covering voice, structure, sourcing standards, and accuracy requirements. We also use AI for brainstorming topics, building outlines, suggesting headlines and meta descriptions, and summarizing research materials.

What Humans Do

Every article is reviewed by a human editor before it is published; nothing goes live without human sign-off. Facts are verified against authoritative sources — government data, official announcements, and primary reporting — and we link to those sources within our articles so you can check them yourself. Editorial judgment about what we cover, the standards every piece must meet, and when a correction is needed rests with our editorial team, not with any AI tool.

Accountability

Mindfully American stands behind everything we publish, however it was drafted. If we get something wrong, we say so and correct it — see our Accuracy and Credibility standards above, or reach us through our contact page.

AI and Privacy

We do not enter readers’ personal information into AI tools.

This policy was created on January 21, 2024 and substantially updated on July 20, 2026 to reflect how our use of AI has evolved. AI is moving quickly, and we’ll keep updating this policy as our practices change.

Ethics and Privacy:

  • Our articles and opinion pieces do not violate individuals’ privacy, promote hate speech, or engage in discrimination of any type.

Transparency:

  • Our ownership, affiliations, and any potential conflicts of interest are public record.
  • We acknowledge and correct inaccuracies and/or errors in our content.

Bylines:

Mindfully American publishes under house pen names, a long-standing tradition in American publishing.

Each byline represents a voice and a beat on our site rather than an individual staff writer, and our bylines are not the source of authority for anything we publish. That authority comes from the process itself: every article is produced as described in our AI Policy above, fact-checked against the primary sources linked within it, and reviewed before publication.

Editorial responsibility for every article rests with Mindfully American and its owner — not with any byline.

No article on this site should be read as relying on the personal credentials of the name it’s published under.

User Engagement:

We strive to foster a respectful community through our contact forms and article comments. Reader input is welcome and encouraged.

Diversity and Inclusion:

At Mindfully American, we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We encourage equity and inclusivity within our organization.

Editorial Opinions and Accountability:

  • The views and opinions expressed by our writers do not necessarily reflect those of management. While we may not always agree with everything our writers say, we believe they have the right to express themselves.
  • Our editorial teams are responsible for reviewing and fact-checking content before publication.
