7 Buc-ee’s Rules Georgians Learn on Their First Stop
A Buc-ee’s stop can turn into a lot more than a quick fill-up.
Georgians visiting one for the first time may run into a few house rules that aren’t obvious until they’re there.
Here’s what to know before you pull in.
1. Card Holds at the Pump
Buc-ee’s places a hold on your card at the pump before you fill up because the final total isn’t known yet.
The company’s FAQ says that hold typically runs from $75 to more than $200.
The amount depends on whether you swipe a debit card, a consumer credit card or a commercial credit card.
Then your bank takes over.
The card issuer decides how long the hold lasts, and holds can last up to 72 hours.
In the company’s example, a $40 fill-up under a $100 hold leaves a $40 charge and a $100 hold.
2. Car Wash Limits
Buc-ee’s lists a car wash at only one of its three Georgia stores, the one in Calhoun, with posted hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The wash uses soft-foam fingers instead of a touchless setup, and Buc-ee’s says auto-hold, auto-park and similar driver assists need to be turned off before you enter the tunnel.
Dually trucks are out.
Vehicles with dual rear wheels are too wide for its car wash.
Buc-ee’s Car Wash Rules
Buc-ee’s car wash takes vehicles up to 7 feet tall.
Your vehicle needs at least 4 inches of ground clearance.
Tires can be no wider than 13.5 inches.
A wash code printed on your pump receipt is good for 365 days, Buc-ee’s says.
Wash codes bought at the pump are all sales final.
Buc-ee’s vacuum codes are good for 30 days.
You can buy the wash at the pump, at any register inside the store or at the pay station outside the car wash.
3. No Advance Food Orders
Buc-ee’s has no advance ordering system for food, according to its FAQ.
If you’re feeding a large group, you can’t order ahead, though the company says its stores are well prepared to handle large groups.
Mind the kitchen clock.
Breakfast runs from 4 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and barbecue sandwiches start at 11:30 a.m. and run until after midnight.
Between those two, the kitchen transitions from breakfast to lunch.
All Buc-ee’s are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Fresh hot food, cold sandwiches, wraps, salads, a jerky bar and homemade fudge are available around the clock.
4. Exchange Policy
According to its FAQ, Buc-ee’s lets you exchange general merchandise in new condition with all original tags.
The swap has to be for general merchandise of equal or greater value, and gift cards don’t count.
Buc-ee’s excludes game cameras.
Slightly consumed food may be exchanged for the same item when the original doesn’t meet the company’s standards.
Your exchange needs a manager’s authorization.

5. Calling Ahead
Buc-ee's keeps its store phone numbers unlisted, according to the FAQ.
The company once had phones in the stores that cashiers answered, and customers got angry when cashiers were on the phone instead of waiting on them.
So you can't phone ahead.
Buc-ee's directs comments to its website instead.
If you're hunting for a particular item, Buc-ee's says it doesn't currently have a good way to determine whether it's in stock at a particular store.
6. Parking and Resting
Buc-ee's says its lots can't accommodate a vehicle for an extended amount of time.
The answer is no if you want to leave your car in the lot, and no if you want to rest in it.
Naps are out.
Both answers tie back to a safe and secure environment for all of its customers.
7. Propane and Deer Corn Prices
Buc-ee's doesn't sell propane, according to the FAQ.
If you're after deer corn, it's available 365 days a year in 50-pound bags at the locations the company lists.
Buc-ee's won't quote prices, though.
Corn costs and retail prices may change daily, and a quoted price could be out of date by the time you arrive.
Octane by Store
Buc-ee's lists ethanol-free fuel and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) at its Warner Robins, Calhoun and Brunswick stores.
The octane choices differ, though, with Warner Robins and Calhoun listing 87 and 93 while Brunswick lists 87 and 90.
If your engine needs 93 octane, you won't find it in Brunswick's listing.
The company's fuel page says diesel exhaust fluid is available at the pump at select locations.
Ethanol-free fuel is popular among boats and small engines, and electric vehicle (EV) charging is available at select locations.
Free Wash Add-Ons
Buc-ee's lists tire shine and vacuums as free add-ons when you buy a wash, plus self-serve bug prep stations.
If you only want a vacuum, a standalone kiosk sells vacuum time without a wash.
Store Sizes
If you stop in Warner Robins, you'll find a Buc-ee's that the company announced at 53,000 square feet with 116 fueling positions.
Calhoun followed at more than 53,200 square feet and 120 fueling positions.
Brunswick's announced plans called for 74,000 square feet and 120 fueling positions.
News4JAX reported when Brunswick opened that it was the largest yet Buc-ee's in Georgia.
Each announced opening was bigger than the one before.
Gift Card Cutoff
Buc-ee's has gift cards, according to its FAQ.
If you're paying for gas with one, you can't use it for fuel after April 1, 2027.
Mismatched Mailing Cities
Two of Georgia's three Buc-ee's list mailing cities that don't match their store names.
The company's locations page puts Calhoun at 601 Union Grove Road in Adairsville.
Warner Robins is listed at 7001 Russell Parkway in Fort Valley.
Brunswick's listing matches.
If you're typing an address into your phone, check the mailing city first.
Monroe County Store
Buc-ee's broke ground on its fourth Georgia store in Monroe County in April 2026, according to Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB).
You can't stop there yet.
The site is off Rumble Road.
If you're driving I-75 South, the store will sit off that route and cover 74,000 square feet.
It's expected to open within 14 to 16 months of that groundbreaking.
