7 Aldi Secrets Employees Wish Ohioans Knew

When’s the last time you read an Aldi label start to finish?

You may not have lately, but Aldi publishes details on ingredients, recalls and delivery prices that can help you shop smarter.

These are the details worth knowing the next time you shop.

1. Regional Divisions

Aldi’s supplier page lists 26 divisions across the country, and three of them serve Ohio.

Hinckley serves Northern Ohio, while Springfield serves Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati.

Saxonburg is in Pennsylvania.

That division serves Southeastern Ohio.

So if you shop in Dayton and a friend shops in Northern Ohio, your stores are served by different divisions.

2. Savings Claim Fine Print

Aldi’s 2026 Price Leadership Report says you can save up to 22% by choosing Aldi private-label products over competitors’ private-label products.

Aldi commissioned a consulting firm to compare prices on a basket of 70 top-selling items.

That comparison covered five metro areas: Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston.

Ohio isn’t on that list.

Aldi’s 2025 report says savings are influenced by local demographics, cost of living, and other regional factors.

So what you save at an Ohio Aldi can differ from the headline number.

How the National Figure Is Built

In Aldi’s report, the national savings percentage for each category is the simple average of the five metro areas’ percentage savings.

The dollar totals multiply those percentages by the spending shown for each category in the Consumer Expenditure Survey, scaled upward.

Those figures reflect savings for a family of four.

3. Packaging Refresh

Aldi said in a September 2025 release that it is putting its name on every product and launching its first-ever namesake brand.

Several brands will be replaced with the Aldi name, so the label on your usual box may change.

Clancy’s, Simply Nature, and Specially Selected will stay on shelves with modernized branding and a bold “an ALDI Original” endorsement.

Nicknames made the cut too.

Products like “Red Bag Chicken” will adopt the names shoppers gave them.

Every product you buy will be refreshed over the next few years.

Aldi says each product is tested and tasted up to five times before it reaches the shelves.

4. Restricted Ingredients

Which ingredients does Aldi keep out of the exclusive brands you buy?

Aldi removed certified synthetic colors from its exclusive products in 2015, according to its April 2026 release.

By December 2027, Aldi will eliminate 44 more ingredients from its exclusive food, vitamin, and supplement products.

Titanium dioxide and potassium bromate are on that list of 44.

Aldi’s restricted ingredient list will grow from 13 to 57.

It won’t happen overnight.

Reformulated products will roll out in phases between now and December 2027.

As each change is finished, the label on your box will show updated ingredient information.

Aldi’s food philosophy page says it removed added MSG in 2015 based on customers’ preferences.

Aldi sources plant-based color ingredients such as beet juice, paprika, and turmeric.

5. Recycling Labels

Aldi’s sustainability page says it partnered with How2Recycle to put labels on its exclusive packaging for everyday food and non-food items.

Aldi has also added How2Compost labels, which tell you whether a package is compostable.

All 3s and 7s are “Not Yet Recyclable” in the How2Recycle program.

Many other packages land on that list because of design decisions.

Numbers alone don’t settle it.

When you’re unsure, ask your local recycling facility.

6. Recall Postings

You can check Aldi’s newsroom for a recalls page with postings that go back to 2018.

A “pull-from-sale” alert from either the manufacturer or Aldi’s Corporate Buying Department triggers what the page calls a rapid response plan.

The list runs through 2026.

You’ll also find pointers to recalls.gov and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

A July 2, 2026 posting covers Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi & Tofu Kimbap, which was recalled over an undeclared fish allergen.

7. Delivery Price Gaps

Does Aldi charge you the same price on Instacart as in the store?

Aldi warned in a May 2020 curbside release that items on sale in the store may not be on sale through the Instacart platform.

Additional fees apply to curbside and delivery orders, so those fees can change your total.

An Aldi spokesperson acknowledged in a 2019 WMAR report that certain items sold on Instacart carry a slight price increase.

Those statements are years old.

Aldi’s January 2026 growth plan lists Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats among its delivery partners.

Ready-Made Meals

Aldi’s first-ever ready-made meals were slated to reach select markets in early October, with more markets through the fall, according to a Sept. 22 release.

If your store isn’t in a launch market yet, the full collection reaches stores nationwide by January 2027.

You’ll find the meals in the refrigerated meals section near the front entrance.

Single-serve meals run under $8.

Family-size meals run under $15.

New meals will reach Aldi Finds shelves every month throughout the next year.

Butter Chicken & Rice is among the single-serve meals, and a Meat Lovers Pizza Bake is among the family-size options.
