6 Royal Farms Orders Marylanders Defend to Anyone Who’ll Listen

Ask a Marylander for their Royal Farms order, and you’d better have a few minutes.

Everyone’s got a pick, and they’ll tell you exactly why the Western Fries beat whatever you’re about to say.

Here are the Royal Farms orders Marylanders defend to anyone who’ll listen.

1. Scrapple, Egg, and Cheese

You can order scrapple, egg, and cheese at Royal Farms on a biscuit, croissant, sub, burrito, or waffle, all of which the nutrition page lists.

Scrapple starts with pork scraps combined with cornmeal and spices, and it’s most often served at breakfast.

Plain scrapple is on the breakfast list next to sausage, bacon, and turkey sausage, if you’d rather skip the egg and cheese.

Royal Farms brought scrapple back to its all-day breakfast menu in April 2023, saying it pairs well with condiments like maple syrup or ketchup.

Syrup or ketchup?

Scrapple is tied to Pennsylvania and other Mid-Atlantic states, Maryland among them.

Many people who grew up with scrapple have firm views on how to serve it.

2. Chesapeake Chicken Sub

Royal Farms put the Chesapeake Chicken sub on the menu in May 2025, billing it as “a tribute to local flavor, and unmistakably Maryland.”

C-Store Dive reported that Royal Farms, best known for its fried chicken, was offering that signature item in sub form.

The Chesapeake Chicken includes the chain’s Chesapeake sauce.

You’ll find the Chesapeake Chicken in classic, spicy, and roasted versions.

3. Western Fries

The Royal Farms about page describes Western Fries as hand-cut and hand-breaded from fresh Idaho potatoes and cooked right in the store.

They’re pressure cooked in the same oil as the chicken.

A 2021 profile in Baltimore Magazine described them as skin-on, hand-cut wedges meant for dunking, particularly in Chesapeake dipping sauce.

An order can be a small meal, and Western Fries are always capitalized.

The nutrition page lists Western Fries in small, large, and family sizes.

If you’re dunking them, the sauce lists include a Chesapeake Sauce in 1-ounce and 4-ounce sizes.

4. Tenders With RoFo Sauce

RoFo is an affectionate nickname for Royal Farms.

The chain's loyalty program, ROFO Rewards, uses the name as well.

In March 2026, the chain added RoFo Sauce, billed as "a classic, creamy dipping sauce with a savory Chesapeake style kick."

The sauce served as the centerpiece of Tender Fest, a limited-time menu built around the chain's hand-breaded chicken tenders.

The menu also offered a 3-piece tender meal with Western Fries and a drink for $6.

A 10-piece tender family pack came with a free 2-liter Coca-Cola product.

You can get tenders classic or spicy, and RoFo Sauce is listed under side sauces.

5. Dark-Meat Chicken Meals

Royal Farms says it hand-breads its chicken with a spice blend and pressure cooks it in small batches around the clock.

The menu lists breast, thigh, wing, and leg as separate pieces.

White or dark?

The meal list gives you a 2 Piece White, a 2 Piece Dark, a 4 Piece Dark, and a 4 Piece Mixed, among other choices.

Dark meat has turned up in Royal Farms deals more than once.

The 2023 National Fried Chicken Day release offered 2-piece boxes in white, dark, or tenders for $6, plus a 10-piece dark-meat bucket for $15.

A September 2026 release offered a $15 Chicken & Coke Meal, with 8 pieces of mixed chicken or 10 pieces of dark, plus a 2-liter Coca-Cola.

The nutrition page lists family packs from 8 to 50 pieces.

Royal Farms' Limited-Time Items

Royal Farms launched the Chesapeake Chicken sub, RoFo Sauce, and the Chicken & Coke Meal with one shared condition.

Its May 2025, March 2026, and September 2026 releases each say the new items are available at participating locations for a limited time.

As of October 2026, the nutrition page still lists the Chesapeake Chicken sub and RoFo Sauce.

6. Mac and Cheese Bowl

At Royal Farms, you can get macaroni and cheese in a bowl with a tender, a spicy tender, or pulled chicken.

Pick your protein.

A take-home item combines two chicken tenders with macaroni and cheese.

If you want only the macaroni, the sides list has small and large.

CSP Daily News, a convenience-store trade publication, says stores offer sides like macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes so customers can take home a full meal.

Brewed-to-Order Coffee

The Swiss-made system at Royal Farms grinds the beans you choose and brews your coffee to order, day or night.

Roasts are grouped as mild, medium, rich, and bold.

French Vanilla and Hazelnut sit in the mild group, and the Brazilian Dark Roast, a strong, nutty brew, sits in the bold group.

The fresh food page says Royal Farms cools cold brew quickly before pouring it over ice to minimize watering-down.

Baltimore Roots

Royal Farms opened its first store in Baltimore in 1959.

The earliest shops carried the White Jug name, in locations from Timonium to Halethorpe.

Maryland has long been a hub of poultry production, so you might expect a local recipe behind the chicken.

Yet, according to Baltimore Magazine, a fryer salesman inspired the chain's chicken recipe.

In May 2024, The Baltimore Banner reported that USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards had named Royal Farms the best gas station for food.

Royal Farms is owned by Cloverland Farms Dairy.

In September 2024, the chain announced the grand opening of its 300th store, in Millersville, Maryland.

Royal Farms' fried chicken is prepared fresh in store and available 24/7.
