Trader Joe’s Is Opening 30 New Stores. Is Your State on the List?

When is Trader Joe’s coming to your town?

If you’ve ever wondered, we might finally have the answer.

Here’s whether your state is on the list of new Trader Joe’s stores, and where each opening stands.

Anaheim Hills and West Jordan

Trader Joe’s announced that its Anaheim Hills store opened on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Its store locator page gives you the address: 6336 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road.

Trader Joe’s West Jordan, Utah, store at 5561 W. 7800 South opened yesterday, Friday, Oct. 23, according to a news release.

The Salt Lake Tribune says West Jordan would be Utah’s 10th Trader Joe’s.

Fast Company’s Oct. 20 roundup puts both openings at 9 a.m.

The roundup covers 30 new locations in 16 states, with 28 of them listed as coming soon.

Those two come first.

If you live near Anaheim Hills or West Jordan, you may have a new Trader Joe’s to try.

Illinois, Texas and Florida

If you live in Chicago, you already have six other Trader Joe’s stores to choose from, as of Oct. 21.

The list has two more there, which would bring the city to eight.

Joliet and Oswego bring Illinois to four.

Texas and Florida get three each.

In Texas, those are Bellaire, Mansfield and Cedar Park.

In Florida, they’re Boynton Beach, Sarasota and Orlando.

If you live in Sarasota, you already have a Trader Joe’s to visit.

That would make two.

Orlando already has a Dr. Phillips store, so the North Alafaya Trail listing would make two.

Question 1 of 9

When Charles Shaw wine reached Trader Joe’s shelves in 2002, what did a bottle cost?

Arizona, Colorado and the Pacific States

Arizona's two coming-soon Trader Joe's stores are both in Phoenix.

The city already has three, so if you live there, you'd have five to choose from.

California has three more beyond Anaheim Hills: Clairemont in San Diego, Riverbank and Encinitas.

Trader Joe's already has eight other stores in San Diego, so Clairemont would be the ninth.

Encinitas, though, may be a move from an existing store.

Denver has one coming soon.

If you live in Denver, you can already visit a store on Logan Street, plus a grocery store and a wine shop on North Colorado Boulevard.

Bend, Oregon, has one as well, though it may be a move.

Washington has two, in Seattle and Spokane Valley.

Seattle's is on Northgate Way.

The city already has six others.

Seven More States

From New Jersey to Nebraska, seven more states have a Trader Joe's coming soon.

If you live in New Jersey, the list has two for you, in Jersey City and West Orange.

West Orange may be a move rather than a first store in town.

New York has two as well, in Syracuse and Yonkers.

Five states get one each.

Those are Quincy in Massachusetts, Baltimore in Maryland, University Heights in Ohio, Farmington Hills in Michigan and Omaha in Nebraska.

If you live in Omaha, you already have a store on Pacific Street, so the new one would be a second.

Sources: Trader Joe's announcements and store pages, and the Salt Lake Tribune. Stores marked coming soon are listed by Fast Company as coming soon, and a few don't show that label on the locator yet. Dates are subject to change.

Where This List Comes From

The list comes from Fast Company's Oct. 20 roundup of the chain's blog announcements and website listings.

It counts the two openings plus 28 coming-soon stores in 15 states.

Trader Joe's hasn't revealed dates for the 28 coming-soon stores.

Its listings confirm that some won't open until 2027.

Many locator pages still show a Coming Soon label, such as Quincy's.

Not every page does.

Four stores on the list show no such label on their locator pages: Seattle's Northgate Way, Orlando's North Alafaya Trail, Spokane Valley's and Oswego's.

On Oct. 21, West Jordan's page still read Coming Soon, two days before its scheduled opening.

You'll want to check your city's page before you plan an opening-day trip.

Three Listings That May Be Moves

Trader Joe's locator pages for Bend, Encinitas and West Orange each show one store, and their address differs from the one on the list.

Bend's page shows 63455 N. Highway 97, while the list has 61284 S. Highway 97.

Encinitas shows 115 N. El Camino Real, while the list has 1590 Leucadia Boulevard.

West Orange shows 457 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, while the list has 471.

Those three may be moves rather than first stores in town, so confirm yours on the locator.

States Not on the List

Trader Joe's locator lists stores in 42 states and Washington, D.C.

Twenty-six other states have a store but no new one on the list.

They're Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine and Minnesota.

The rest are Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The locator lists no stores in eight states: Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Those eight aren't on it.

If you live in one of them, your nearest Trader Joe's is outside your state.
