Walmart+ Assist cuts the membership in half for shoppers already enrolled in a handful of government programs.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) qualifies, along with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, and a few other programs, including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

3. Fill Prescriptions off the $4 List
Walmart’s pharmacy runs a program many shoppers forget exists.
A long list of generic medications cost $4 for a 30-day supply, or $10 for 90 days, no insurance or coupon required.
Common blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes medications sit on that list, along with several antidepressants.
It’s run since 2006, through good years and bad, while several competitors dropped their own copycat lists over time.
Ask the pharmacist before you assume your insurance copay beats it.

4. Pump Gas Through Walmart+ Fuel Savings
A Walmart+ membership also knocks 10 cents off every gallon at Walmart, Exxon, Mobil, and Murphy stations, plus member pricing at Sam’s Club pumps, per Walmart’s own membership page.

Walmart isn't the only retailer skipping the age break, but many others still write it into the register.
Kohl's takes 15% off for shoppers 60 and older every Wednesday, with dozens of locations across the state, according to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
Ross Dress for Less runs a smaller 10% discount for anyone 55 and up, every Tuesday, though a cashier may ask to see your driver's license first.
It's a smaller discount than Kohl's, but it still counts.
Walgreens goes further, with 20% off regular-priced items on the first Tuesday of the month for shoppers 55 and older, in stores and online with the code SENIOR20.
Prescriptions and clinical services don't count toward that discount.
CVS skips a flat percentage and instead gives ExtraCare members 60 and older ongoing rewards, plus $4 off a first purchase after they sign up.
Goodwill runs its own senior day too, at many of its thrift locations, with markdowns that run higher than a grocery store would ever offer.
Publix, the chain most tied to a Florida grocery run, doesn't join in.
Its 5% Wednesday discount only shows up at stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, never in Florida.
