5 Club Publix Perks Tennesseans Never Switch On

Tennessee has over 60 Publix stores, and Club Publix is the free loyalty program tied to every one of them.

Many Tennesseans who sign up for it don’t take advantage of all it offers.

These are the Club Publix perks some Tennesseans never switch on.

1. Early Weekly Ad

Club Publix members can sneak a peek at next week’s ad a day early.

That head start covers all 62 Publix stores in Tennessee, including the three newest, in Spring Hill, Nolensville, and Farragut.

A shopper who never signs into the app before a trip misses that early look.

They shop the same ad as everyone walking in cold.

Not much of an edge.

Sign in the night before, though, and a shopper can plan a cart around the new BOGOs before they ever hit the shelf.

What Counts as a Club Publix Perk

Club Publix perks start with joining and entering a phone number at checkout every time a member shops.

Opting out of personalized communications makes a member ineligible.

Even then, they don’t cover everything in a shopper’s cart.

Publix excludes alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, money orders, postage stamps, gift cards, prescriptions, and taxes or fees from its Club Publix offers and perks.

A member chasing a birthday treat or a personalized offer on a bottle of wine won’t find a match.

Wine only shows up in ordinary store BOGO ads, never as a Club Publix perk.

2. Unclipped Digital Coupons

Publix features at least 30 deals every week.

None of them apply on their own.

A shopper has to open Savings, go to Digital Coupons, tap the scissors icon next to each coupon, and clip it before checkout.

Only then does the discount attach to a phone number at the register.

A cart full of coupon-eligible groceries rings up at full price if that clipping never happens.

Clipped coupons sync to a shopper’s saved shopping list too.

Clip them on Sunday, and the same savings ride along when a shopper works off that list on Wednesday.

Question 1 of 10

Publix took its name from what kind of Florida business?

3. Extra Savings

Publix runs a second deals page inside the Publix app called Extra Savings.

Two deal pages, not one.

Publix describes it as offers a shopper won't find in the Publix Weekly Ad, on items across the store from frozen food to snacks and more.

A shopper has to open the Extra Savings tab and choose a home store before any of those prices load.

A shopper who skips it misses savings the weekly ad never carried in the first place.

4. Order-Ahead Pickup

Publix charges a markup on every Instacart delivery and curbside order, an increase the company says covers the cost of running the service.

Order-ahead pickup skips that markup.

A member who orders subs, a bakery cake, or a deli platter through the Publix app pays the same price as walking up to the counter.

That price still reflects whatever's on sale that week, the same as an in-store trip.

Publix's order-ahead FAQ states the service carries no additional fees or charges.

5. Birthday Treat

Club Publix offers a birthday perk.

The catch sits in the fine print: A member has to enter a birth date in the account at least 10 days before their birthday.

Ten days, minimum.

Publix puts that field in the Settings tab of a Club Publix account.

Skip that window, and the treat never triggers.

A member who fills it in is in line for a birthday treat, though Publix doesn't publish what the treat is.

Shareable Shopping List

Publix built a share button straight into its shopping list inside the Publix app.

Open List, tap the three dots in the top corner, and Share List sends the whole thing by email or straight to a Bluetooth printer.

A shopper building a list at the kitchen table can hand off the whole run to a spouse heading out the door instead.

No retyping required.

Tennessee's Newest Publix Stores

Publix opened three new stores in the state within the past two years, in Spring Hill, Nolensville, and Farragut.

Each one measures 48,387 square feet and includes a pharmacy drive-thru and a deli case carrying more than 200 artisan cheeses.

The Club Publix program works the same way inside all three stores as it does at any other Publix in the state.

The weekly ad, the digital coupons, and the Extra Savings page are all there whether a shopper's home store opened decades ago or last year.

The offers themselves vary, though.

Publix limits certain offers by geographical area and store location.

Its weekly ad also runs on two cycles, Wednesday through Tuesday at some stores and Thursday through Wednesday at others.

A new storefront doesn't come with new perks, just a longer cheese case to walk past on the way to claim them.

Perks That Skip Instacart

Club Publix doesn't work the same way once a shopper switches to delivery or pickup.

Publix says most BOGOs and Club Publix perks carry over to an Instacart order, but clipped digital coupons don't.

A coupon clipped Tuesday night for an in-store trip won't apply if a shopper switches that order to delivery instead.

Most BOGOs still ring up correctly either way.

The coupon stack falls off the order, not the BOGO.

It's worth checking a cart before a delivery order ships, since most BOGOs apply automatically but a clipped coupon never will.

Public Chapter 824 rewrote what a Tennessee pharmacist can do from behind the counter, effective May 1, 2024.

Many patients still treat that counter the same way they did five years ago, missing services the new law added.

Motorcyclists call it the Tail of the Dragon, but Tennesseans who live near it just call it a daytime road.
