5 Meijer Secrets Employees Wish Illinoisans Knew

A weekly ad can only tell you so much about a store.

Meijer employees know several details that never make it into one, and Illinoisans who shop at Meijer can benefit from them.

These are the lesser-known Meijer details employees wish more shoppers knew.

Note: This is general information, not medical advice. Program details and vaccine availability are subject to change.

1. Orders and Fees on mPerks’ Excludes List

Meijer’s mPerks release lists Instacart and DoorDash orders and Meijer home delivery and pickup fees on a footnote’s Excludes list.

Meijer’s mPerks rewards program lets shoppers earn points on every dollar spent, according to a June 2025 release focused on Michigan customers.

A footnote to the sentence about earning points at checkout lists items it excludes.

If you order through Instacart or DoorDash, that order is on the list.

Meijer’s home delivery and pickup fees are on that list too.

Alcohol, tobacco, lottery, taxes and bottle deposits are on the list too.

The footnote also names gift and entertainment cards, prepaid debit cards, postage and licenses.

2. Booking Vaccines Before They’re in Stock

At Meijer Pharmacy, you can schedule a vaccine appointment before the shot reaches the store’s inventory, according to the August 2026 release.

You schedule ahead at rx.meijer.com.

Flu, RSV, shingles and pneumonia vaccines are listed, subject to age, eligibility and availability.

COVID vaccines are listed too, but they weren’t part of the schedule-ahead feature at that point.

Meijer anticipated the COVID vaccine this fall, following regulatory approval.

You can also manage vaccination needs through Meijer’s website or app, by texting RX to 75049, or by walking into your local Meijer Pharmacy.

All eligible vaccine recipients can earn mPerks points this season.

If you run a workplace or community group, Meijer says it brings on-site vaccine clinics at no charge to the organization.

3. Free Home Delivery for SNAP Shoppers in the Extended Zone

Meijer’s December 2024 release says customers using SNAP benefits can continue to receive free home delivery in the extended zone after the promotion ends.

That extended zone came from Meijer tripling its home delivery range, from an approximate 20-minute radius around its stores to 60 minutes.

If you live beyond the old 20-minute radius, your address may now fall inside the wider zone.

The wider zone adds nearly four million households across the Midwest.

Other customers in the extended zone will see an extended range delivery fee once the promotion expires.

That release dates to December 2024, so confirm current delivery terms with Meijer before you order.

4. Simply Give Double Match Days

On a Meijer Double Match Day, the $10 Simply Give card you add becomes $30 for that store's local pantry partner.

Meijer's September 2026 release says the company holds six of those days throughout the year.

Aug. 15 and Sept. 12 were named as Double Match Days.

You can add the card at checkout in stores, on Meijer.com or through the Meijer app.

The cards are available at any time of year.

The Simply Give Pantry Card

Meijer converts each Simply Give contribution into a gift card that goes directly to the food pantry partner that store selected.

Pantries can use it on fresh produce, dairy and meat.

They can also buy baby supplies with it, including food, formula and diapers.

When you buy the card, you're adding to a program Meijer says supports nearly 600 food pantries across the Midwest.

5. Paying for Flashfood With EBT

If you use SNAP benefits, Grocery Dive reported in March 2023 that you can pay for Meijer's Flashfood orders with your EBT card.

Flashfood is an app that sells discounted surplus food, and Meijer's August 2026 release for its new Livonia store still lists it among the features.

The option reached all Meijer supercenters and grocery stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Fuel Points and Quick ID

Meijer Express fuel pumps work with Quick ID, which links your credit card to your mPerks account, according to the June 2025 release.

That lets you skip the step of entering a phone number and PIN before you pump.

You can apply mPerks points in the app toward the savings of your choice, including up to $1 off each gallon of gas.

Points can't be redeemed on fuel in Wisconsin.

Wegovy and Ozempic Savings at Meijer Pharmacy

Meijer's February 2026 release says Meijer Pharmacy accepts savings programs available with NovoCare for the semaglutide drugs Wegovy and Ozempic.

You can visit your local Meijer Pharmacy and present a NovoCare coupon when you fill your prescription.

No insurance is required.
