7 Things Kentuckians Should Know Before Ordering a Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving Meal

If you’re thinking about letting Cracker Barrel do the cooking this year, a little planning can save you a headache.

Here’s what Kentuckians should know before they order a Thanksgiving meal at Cracker Barrel.

1. Preorder Window

You’ll preorder a Cracker Barrel Heat n’ Serve meal during a limited window, according to the holiday guide.

Popular pickup times can fill before ordering closes.

Last year, Cracker Barrel announced its Thanksgiving Heat n’ Serve meals on Oct. 20, with preorders open online and in restaurants while supplies lasted.

That’s last year’s timeline.

Cracker Barrel tells you to use the current holiday order page when ordering opens.

If your plans change after you order, call the store connected to your order as early as possible.

2. Two Sizes

Two package sizes cover a Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving Heat n’ Serve order.

The Family Dinner serves 4 to 6, and the Feast serves 8 to 10.

Seven guests fit neither range, though the guide points seven to the Feast.

Order once you know your guest count.

3. Meal Contents

Cracker Barrel’s 2026 guide lists one oven-roasted turkey breast in the Family Dinner and two in the Feast.

Both come with cornbread dressing, turkey gravy, cranberry relish, sweet potato casserole, country green beans and sweet yeast rolls.

If you order the Feast, that list adds mashed potatoes and dessert.

Pecans turn up in the sweet potato casserole.

Warn your guests.

Question 1 of 9

In 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving up a week to lengthen the Christmas shopping season. How did the states respond?

4. Starting Price

A Cracker Barrel Heat n' Serve meal started at $114.99 last year, matching its starting price the year before.

In 2023, the Family Dinner started at $104.99 and the Feast at $154.99.

That's a $50 gap.

For 2026, the chain says prices vary by holiday and package. Check the order page for the latest prices, and review the holiday menu before checkout because offerings can change.

5. Pickup and the 72-Hour Clock

Under Cracker Barrel's Thanksgiving Heat n' Serve instructions, you keep the meal refrigerated and serve it within 72 hours of pickup.

Choose a pickup date and time that fits the refrigerated storage window.

Count back from Nov. 26, the date the federal government lists for Thanksgiving Day this year.

A Tuesday or Wednesday pickup fits a Thursday meal.

If Cracker Barrel offers those pickup days this year, you're looking at Tuesday the 24th or Wednesday the 25th.

Last year's pickup window ran Nov. 22 to 30, according to the chain's Oct. 20 release.

That's more days than the serving window covers.

Plan backward from dinner.

Cracker Barrel's 72-Hour Clock, Worked Out

A Tuesday pickup puts a Cracker Barrel Heat n' Serve meal about 48 hours from Thursday dinner, inside the 72-hour window.

A Wednesday pickup shortens that to about 24 hours.

6. Oven, Stovetop and Microwave

Cracker Barrel says to plan on about two hours from refrigerator to table for a Thanksgiving Heat n' Serve meal.

Before you order, check that window against your Thursday: The heating sheets call for an oven, a stovetop and a microwave.

In the oven, your turkey breast goes in covered at 400°F for 60 minutes, then uncovered for about 10 more, until it reaches 165°F.

Is your oven free?

On the stovetop, the Family Dinner has country green beans simmering for 25 minutes, with gravy needing about 10 minutes.

If you order the Feast, the mashed potatoes go in your microwave for three 4-minute increments, 12 minutes in all.

7. Pies and Add-Ons

Extras on your Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving order can change by season, according to the holiday guide.

When offered, additional proteins, sides and whole pies can help when your guest count falls between package sizes.

Last year, Cracker Barrel also sold fresh-baked pies in flavors like pecan, chocolate pecan, apple streusel and cinnamon roll.

Extras aren't a given.

You'll find hashbrown casserole, mac and cheese and broccoli cheese casserole on the Family Dinner heating sheet, but not in the guide's package lists.

On that sheet, the broccoli cheese casserole bakes at 400°F for about 30 minutes and the hashbrown casserole for 50 to 60.

More From the Heating Sheets

You'll give cornbread dressing 50 to 60 minutes uncovered, or 40 to 50 in a foil pan, according to Cracker Barrel's Family Dinner heating sheet.

Sweet yeast rolls bake 15 minutes at 400°F.

The Feast sheet lists cranberry relish, holiday berry tea, pumpkin pie and pecan pie as ready-to-serve.

For food safety, reheat the sides it names to an internal temperature of 165°F.

Keep the food refrigerated until you're ready to reheat.

That takes refrigerator room.

Changes Since 2023

The sides on a Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving Heat n' Serve meal have changed since 2023.

That year's release let you choose two country sides with the Feast and one with the Family Dinner.

Last year's release listed sweet potato casserole and green beans as the Family Dinner sides.

The 2026 guide lists the same two for the Family Dinner.

Last year's release also named pumpkin and pecan pies as the Feast's dessert, while this year's guide lists only dessert.

The starting price moved too: Last year's $114.99 topped the 2023 Family Dinner's starting price of $104.99.

That's a $10 increase.

In 2023, Cracker Barrel's Heat n' Serve pickups ran Nov. 18 to 25 while supplies lasted.

That year also offered a digital bonus card for pickups on Nov. 20 or 21, worth $10 with a Feast and $5 with a Family Dinner.
