6 Lowes Foods Programs and Policies North Carolinians Often Miss
You take out your Fresh Rewards card at the Lowes Foods register and think you’re good to go.
But there’s more to the store than that card.
These are the Lowes Foods programs and policies North Carolinians often miss.
1. 60-Day Return Policy
Lowes Foods gives you 60 days from the day you buy a product to return it for a refund.
For a cash refund, you need the original receipt or the Fresh Rewards card you used when you bought it.
Any refund over $20 needs management approval.
Returning Without a Receipt at Lowes Foods
With no receipt or card, the store tries to locate your purchase history.
If the store finds the purchase, it can issue a gift card for the refund amount when you show valid government-issued ID.
If you use a Fresh Rewards card as proof, the name on the card has to match your ID.
The card also has to be in the system for more than 30 days.
A brand-new card won’t do.
2. Friends Feeding Friends
In 2026, you can donate to Friends Feeding Friends through December 29 at any Lowes Foods store across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
Lowes Foods says the drive is one of the largest food drives in the Carolinas, where one in four children and one in six adults experience food insecurity.
Three ways to give.
You can give $10 in cash to Feeding America, drop non-perishable food in an in-store donation bin, or pay $5.99 for a purchase that includes five Lowes Foods Brand products.
This year, the drive uses ornaments to represent each purchase or donation instead of packed bags.
Local food banks are set to collect cases of donated items.
3. Scan Right Guarantee
What does Lowes Foods do when an item scans higher than its shelf tag?
Under its Scan Right Guarantee, you get one of the incorrectly priced items free.
Any additional identical items in the same transaction sell at the lower advertised price.
So if three identical cans scan too high, one can is free and the other two cans sell at the lower price.
You’ll need a valid receipt to qualify.
The shelf tag, signage or advertised price also has to be verifiable when you make the claim.
Some items don’t qualify.
The guarantee leaves out beer, wine, tobacco products and other items prohibited by law.
4. Club Cash
If you help run a school, club or church group, your group can raise money through Club Cash by buying Lowes Foods gift cards at a discount.
Your group joins by filling out an account application, and a group that buys $500 or more in gift cards gets a 6% discount.
That’s $30 off.
The group then sells those cards at face value to parents and other supporters.

5. Fresh Rewards Card Rules
A Lowes Foods Fresh Rewards account is meant for one person and tied to a personal phone number.
The card itself can be used by the cardholder's immediate family living at the same address.
Gas Rewards, the gas savings you earn with Fresh Rewards, go to the primary account when an additional card earns them.
They expire in thirty days.
At checkout, the phone number you gave at enrollment can stand in for the card, though the terms have the cashier ask for a valid driver's license.
Your Fresh Rewards account works at any Lowes Foods store.
Lowes Foods treats an account that earns no Gas Rewards for twelve consecutive months as inactive, and its progress toward the next reward may reset to $0.00.
6. Cart 2 Class
Would you like your Lowes Foods trips to help a local school through Cart 2 Class?
You can enroll up to three schools on your Fresh Rewards card.
Then you start earning.
Each school's reward depends on how many Lowes Foods Private Label items you buy.
If you can't find your school, ask its administrator to enroll it.
Lowes Foods says it will give up to a quarter of a million dollars to local schools through the program.
Fine Print
Lowes Foods reserves the right to end the program, cancel cards or points, or amend the terms at any time without notice.
The terms let the company change the rate at which you earn Gas Rewards and cap how much each account can be awarded.
If you return a qualifying product for a refund, Lowes Foods can deduct the Gas Rewards it earned.
Accounts aren't guaranteed either.
Lowes Foods may close a Fresh Rewards account at its discretion.
North Wilkesboro Roots
A Lowes Foods store you visit today traces back to 1954, when the company began as a single store in North Wilkesboro.
In 1997, it bought Byrds Food Stores in eastern North Carolina.
Lowes Foods bought 13 Hannaford stores in 2000.
A concept store opened in Hickory in 2010, and in January 2013 the company reopened a Clemmons store as the first to offer all of its newly developed concepts.
Today you can shop at close to 80 Lowes Foods stores, and the company continues to open new stores throughout North and South Carolina.
Checking a Recall
If you want to learn about a recall, the Lowes Foods help center says to visit its Product Recalls page.
The 2026 recalls page lists recalled products with their bar code and lot code or best-by date where given.
If you kept a package, you can match its bar code number and lot code to an entry.
Links on that page lead back through earlier years to 2018.
Each entry carries a class label of 1, 2 or 3 and a short reason.
Those classes aren't defined.
