Costco Is Opening 3 New Warehouses in 3 States by Oct. 30

Californians in Camarillo have been able to fill up at Costco’s new gas station since May.

The warehouse behind it opens next week.

Costco warehouses in New York and Kansas open that week, too.

Here’s where you can find Costco’s new locations by Oct. 30.

Ridge Lea Road in Amherst, New York

Costco opens its Amherst, New York, warehouse at 4230 Ridge Lea Road on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

A Buffalo TV station reports it’ll be the area’s first Costco.

It’s on the site of a former Tony Roma’s restaurant, across from Boulevard Plaza.

The warehouse’s gas station opened on Sept. 4.

You can sign up for a membership before opening day at a sign-up location inside Walden Galleria, open since Sept. 4.

The location is a temporary, 2,500-square-foot storefront.

Some residents have raised concerns about traffic in their neighborhoods.

A 2025 progress report said the road work would include realigning Romney Road at North Bailey Avenue and adding new traffic lights at key intersections.

A $3 million grant from the New York State Department of Transportation is helping fund the road work.

Mercato Drive in Lawrence, Kansas

The Lawrence, Kansas, warehouse is in the northwest part of the city, near Rock Chalk Park.

It anchors a mixed-use development called The Mercato.

Plans for The Mercato also include a Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy and a Truity Credit Union.

Opening day at 6200 Mercato Drive is Thursday, Oct. 29.

A Kansas City TV station reports the 166,000-square-foot store will be the fifth Costco in the Kansas City area.

A 2025 site plan called for 24 fuel pumps and a Tire Center, so you may find gas and tire service at the same stop.

The same plan listed a 158,413-square-foot sales floor and 834 parking stalls.

If you’re in Lawrence and want a membership first, you can sign up at that same address before opening day.

Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo, California

Costco's Camarillo, California, warehouse at 431 W. Ventura Blvd. opens Friday, Oct. 30, months after its gas station opened on May 1.

You can join at the warehouse before opening day, since sign-ups there started Oct. 2.

The warehouse is planned at 160,000 square feet, with about 900 parking spaces and roughly 900 new jobs expected.

Fox 11 Los Angeles reported in February that plans called for 32 gas pumps, a food court, a bakery, a pharmacy and a tire service center.

Costco announced the warehouse in 2022 and first aimed for a mid-to-late 2024 opening.

A group called Ventura County Citizens Against Mega Gas tried to block the development, arguing the city needed to conduct a more detailed environmental study.

An appeals court sided with the City of Camarillo, finding no evidence the project would cause significant new harm to the environment.

The group has said it won't seek California Supreme Court review.

The site is west of the Camarillo Town Center, just south of the 101 Freeway at the Springville exit.

Services at the Three Warehouses

Costco's opening pages for Amherst, Lawrence and Camarillo each tell you to expect a pharmacy, an optical department, a hearing aid center, a gas station and a tire service center.

Amherst's warehouse page spells out more, including a bakery, a pizza kitchen, a hot dog stand, a garden center and fresh fish.

It also lists travel, self check-out and a special order kiosk.

Entrance Scanners and Guests

In a 2024 statement, Costco said it would use membership scanning devices at the entrance doors of its warehouses over the coming months.

Once deployed, the statement said, members must scan a physical or digital card before entering, so you'll need yours at the door.

Costco added that guests must come with a valid member to enter a store.

Costco's stated reason was that it doesn't feel non-members should get the same benefits and pricing as members.

In 2024, CBS News reported that Costco had begun asking for a membership card and photo ID at self-checkout, so you may want both on hand.

Shop Card for New Members

The same opening pages advertise a digital Shop Card for people who join before Nov. 29.

If you join before then, the card is worth $40 as an Executive member or $20 as a Gold Star member.

Nov. 29 falls 30 days after Camarillo's Oct. 30 opening.

Costco's 2026 Expansion

Costco has 939 warehouses worldwide, including 647 in the United States and Puerto Rico, according to its Oct. 7 sales report.

Costco's annual report says the company opened 28 new warehouses in fiscal 2026, including three relocations.

At the end of fiscal 2026, 292 of Costco's warehouses, or 31%, were outside the U.S.

That left 25 net new warehouses.

Earlier in October, Costco's new Lee's Summit, Missouri, warehouse welcomed its first shoppers on Oct. 2.

Costco's Midtown Kansas City warehouse had closed the day before to begin a conversion into a Costco Business Center.
