Meijer’s mPerks Fine Print: 7 Rules Ohioans Miss Every Week

The beer and wine in your Meijer cart earn you nothing in mPerks points.

With Thanksgiving shopping weeks away, it’s worth knowing what else the fine print leaves out.

Here’s what Ohioans should check so your points don’t go to waste.

1. 90-Day Points Clock

In 2026, Meijer’s mPerks page says earned points are valid for 90 days.

The points you earned first expire first, within a three-month timeframe.

Use them early.

2. 45-Day Claimed Rewards

A Meijer reward you claim in mPerks is valid for 45 days.

Meijer’s page says to claim your reward before you check out.

Claim it when you’re ready to shop.

3. ID and PIN at Checkout

The mPerks program gives you 10 points for every dollar you spend at Meijer in store or online, according to its page.

Enter your mPerks ID and personal identification number (PIN) before you check out to earn those points.

You enter them again at checkout for a claimed reward to apply.

4. Category Bonus Offers

Meijer’s category bonus offers live in the earn tab of mPerks, so visit that tab before you shop.

Open the tab first.

5. Purchases That Earn No Points

Meijer’s June 2025 footnote names 18 exclusions in all, and each one is a purchase that earns nothing.

Alcohol and tobacco lead it.

So the beer, wine and cigarettes in your cart earn you nothing, even when the rest of your cart does.

Gift and entertainment cards, prepaid phone and airtime cards, prepaid debit cards with their reload packs and lottery are on it too.

A $100 prepaid debit card adds $100 to your receipt and nothing to your points.

Pseudoephedrine and ephedra products are on the list, and so are postage, licenses and taxes.

Park and entertainment tickets, protection plans, in-store businesses and bottle deposits are too.

6. Fuel Rewards at the Pump

Meijer lets you apply mPerks points to savings you choose in the app, including up to $1 off each gallon of gas.

Claim and confirm your fuel reward in mPerks before visiting the pump.

Claim first, then pump.

The June 2025 announcement doesn't say how many points a fuel reward takes.

Meijer's Fuel Rules Across Two Lists

Meijer's January 2023 mPerks announcement put fuel on its list of purchases that earn no points.

The June 2025 list leaves fuel off.

A separate line there says points can't be redeemed on fuel in Wisconsin.

Both lists sit in footnotes, so a list you read in one year can't tell you the rules for the next.

7. Instacart and DoorDash Orders

Instacart orders and DoorDash orders earn no mPerks points at Meijer, according to the June 2025 footnote.

Neither app earns a point.

Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup fees are on the same list, so what you pay in those fees adds nothing either.

The mPerks page lists free Meijer home delivery among the rewards you can choose.

Prescription Points

The mPerks page lists bonus points for every qualifying prescription filled.

Since the 2023 overhaul, each qualifying prescription you fill earns points, instead of just every fifth one.

The page doesn't define qualifying.

Pseudoephedrine sits on the no-points list, so one pharmacy trip can earn points on your prescription and none on a decongestant with pseudoephedrine.

Your mPerks Dashboard

Your Meijer mPerks dashboard shows your points balance and history, and it tracks in-progress rewards.

The rewards you can choose include dollars off your purchase, fuel discounts and free items.

2023 Overhaul Transition

Meijer's January 2023 mPerks overhaul carried your unclaimed rewards into the new program at the same value.

Your in-progress rewards and existing pharmacy credits moved over as points.

That overhaul is also when points began expiring after 90 days, doubling the old 45-day window.

Southeast Michigan switched first on Jan. 16, and other Midwest markets rolled over in phases through January and February.

Old rewards didn't vanish.

Savings Meijer Reports

Michigan shoppers saved nearly $200 million through mPerks over the prior year, Meijer's June 2025 announcement said.

It covers Michigan only.

It says nothing about what you personally keep.

The 2023 announcement also cites millions of total mPerks users, so you're far from the only shopper reading Meijer's fine print.

Quick ID at the Pump

Meijer's June 2025 announcement said you can now link your credit card to your mPerks account through Quick ID.

Quick ID skips the step of entering a phone number and PIN at a Meijer Express fuel pump.

You add the card in the payments section of your Meijer account.
