North Carolinians, Virginians and South Carolinians Who Shop at Food Lion Can Earn a $20 Coupon Before Thanksgiving
Your Food Lion receipt probably ends up wadded in a pocket before you reach your car. But this fall, the line printed at the bottom is worth reading.
It shows how your in-store trips are adding up, and it’s easy to miss while you’re juggling grocery bags.
Here’s how Food Lion shoppers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia can earn a $20 coupon before Thanksgiving.
Coupon Terms
Food Lion’s MVP Fall Haul gives you a $20 coupon after your sixth qualifying shopping trip.
Each trip has to total at least $50 in qualifying purchases.
All six have to happen between Oct. 14 and Nov. 25, and you have to use your personal MVP savings card each time.
The coupon goes toward a future Food Lion purchase.
A $50 top-up and a $120 weekly shop each add one trip to your count.
Six trips at the $50 minimum add up to $300, so at the minimum, the $20 coupon works out to about 6.7 cents back on every dollar you spend.
Participating Stores
Food Lion’s store locator lists stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
The Fall Haul release calls Food Lion a chain of more than 1,100 stores across 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
It doesn’t say which states take part in the offer.
Food Lion’s September newsroom release also lists 2026 openings in Summerfield and Charlotte, North Carolina, and in Greenville, Hilton Head and Wren, South Carolina.
If you shop at a Food Lion in North Carolina, South Carolina or Virginia, check foodlion.com/pages/fall-haul, the promotion page the release points to, before you count on a trip.
Counting Toward $50
Pharmacy, alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, lottery, and postage stamps and services don’t count toward Food Lion’s $50 minimum, according to the Fall Haul release.
Say your cart rings up at $58, and $12 of that is a prescription refill.
Only $46 counts toward the $50.
That trip misses.
Those exclusions decide which of your trips earn credit toward the coupon.
The Fall Haul is open to in-store, online and Food Lion app shopping.
The release also mentions clipping digital coupons but doesn’t say whether coupons count toward the $50, so if you clip several, check your progress line after that trip.
When Your Coupon Expires
This year’s coupon has no expiration date in Food Lion’s release.
Past coupons ran on a short clock, as the box below shows.
How Past Food Lion $20 Coupons Lasted
Food Lion’s 2016 coupon was valid for two weeks from the date of issue.
Food Lion’s 2020 coupon had the same two-week window, WRAL in Raleigh reported.
Read the date printed on your 2026 coupon the day you get it.
Tracking Your Trips
Food Lion’s Fall Haul release says your progress shows at the bottom of printed receipts for in-store purchases and arrives by email for online and app orders.
Check it after each trip to see how close you are to your sixth.
None of it counts without your personal MVP savings card.
If you don’t have one yet, Food Lion’s release says you can enroll for free in stores or online.
If you can’t find your card, Food Lion’s MVP program page says your card number prints at the bottom of your receipt.
You get it by entering your phone number at checkout in store.
Enroll before your next trip, not after it.
Snap a photo of each receipt’s progress line so you can compare it with the next one.
Psst! How ready is your Fall Haul? Run through this checklist and see where you stand.
Days Left to Earn It
Food Lion’s Fall Haul ends on Nov. 25, one day before Thanksgiving on Nov. 26.
Counting both ends, Oct. 14 through Nov. 25 is 43 days.
If you’re starting on Nov. 4, you have 22 days left, counting both ends.
Six trips in 22 days works out to a trip about every four days.
A trip every four days from Nov. 4 lands on Nov. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24.
That finishes a day early, and the 25th is your spare.
If that last $50 trip falls short, the spare day is your one chance to repeat it.
Your sixth trip has to land by Nov. 25, so put your last run on the calendar now.
Thanksgiving Cart Math
Food Lion’s 2025 Thanksgiving promotion let you buy a complete meal for under $40 from Nov. 12 to 27, with an MVP card and clipped digital coupons.
The meal was built for 10 people, with a frozen 14-pound turkey and two frozen Mrs. Smith’s pies.
That was a 2025 deal, and the Fall Haul release doesn’t mention a Thanksgiving meal offer for 2026, so it may not return.
The Fall Haul release does pitch the coupon as help for families preparing for holiday gatherings.
Say your Thanksgiving cart rings up at $64, and $15 of that is a gift card.
Only $49 counts, so that trip misses by a dollar.
A Thanksgiving Day run won’t count, since the Fall Haul ends a day earlier.
A turkey run on Nov. 24 or 25 can still count if it reaches $50 in qualifying purchases.
Five of the meal’s 14 items were Food Lion brand, among them the Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese and the Turkey Gravy Mix.
Whatever your Thanksgiving cart holds, the trip counts toward the Fall Haul only when its qualifying purchases reach $50.
