Tennessee’s Next Buc-ee’s Is Set to Open Nov. 16 With 120 Fueling Positions

If you drive Interstate 24 through Murfreesboro, it’s worth making a mental note of Monday, Nov. 16.

Buc-ee’s is scheduled to open its Murfreesboro travel center at 6 a.m. that day.

Here’s what you can expect from Tennessee’s next Buc-ee’s when its doors open.

Size, Parking and Services

Buc-ee’s is planning a travel center on about 47 acres at the Interstate 24 and Joe B. Jackson Parkway interchange.

You’ll be looking at a building of roughly 74,000 square feet.

That’s bigger than Crossville’s store, which the news outlet WCYB reported at more than 50,000 square feet when it opened.

Plans call for nearly 490 spaces for cars and 15 more for RVs and buses.

If you drive an electric vehicle, Buc-ee’s plans charging stations too.

The radio station WGNS reports the Murfreesboro store won’t have a car wash, unlike some other Buc-ee’s locations.

Positions, Stations or Pumps

Buc-ee’s Murfreesboro store is planned with 120 fueling positions.

Other reports describe the same count as 120 fueling stations and 120 fuel pumps.

Buc-ee’s website also uses the term, describing travel centers known for many fueling positions.

The news outlet WCYB counted over 100 fuel pumps at the Crossville store when it opened in 2022.

Buc-ee’s FAQ points you to its locations page to find stores with ethanol-free gas or diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).

As of Oct. 21, the page lists ethanol-free fuel and DEF at Crossville and Sevierville but doesn’t list Murfreesboro, so you can’t confirm those options there yet.

Hiring Ahead of Opening Day

Buc-ee’s scheduled a three-day hiring event for Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 at The View at the Fountains.

Hours were set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with interviews by invitation only.

Hiring covered cashier, deli and foodservice, grocery, gift, and janitorial roles.

Buc-ee’s website listed several management openings over the summer, including assistant general manager, grocery and human resources roles.

If you’re counting jobs, the radio station WGNS reports about 200 at the store, while Buc-ee’s October 2025 release says at least 250 full-time jobs.

Years of Delays

Buc-ee's plans for the Murfreesboro store first emerged in May 2021, according to WhatNow Nashville.

The opening came later than the September 2024 date a June 2023 report from the same outlet listed.

Buc-ee's announced in an October 2025 release that it would break ground on Oct. 14, a little more than a year before the Nov. 16 opening.

If you're wondering about the wait, the Rutherford Source reported in July that the road work needed to reach the site took several years.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland said Buc-ee's paid for the improvements without help from the city, county or state.

The Rutherford Source noted the earlier official word had been December and cited a July 15 Murfreesboro Pulse report that gave Nov. 16.

The station WATE described construction as well underway in June.

Opening Morning

Buc-ee's media manager told the Middle Tennessee State University student newspaper that customers may begin lining up at midnight.

A ribbon-cutting is planned that morning, though its time isn't final.

Sevierville's store was set to open at 6 a.m. on June 26, 2023, with a ribbon-cutting planned for 11 a.m.

If you can't make opening morning, Buc-ee's says all of its stores run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Final construction and operating preparations could still affect the schedule, the radio station WGNS notes.

So check the date again before you set an alarm.

Directions and Site Rules

If you drive Interstate 24, you'll find the Buc-ee's site at the Joe B. Jackson Parkway exit.

The station WATE reported in June that new traffic signals are up along Joe B. Jackson Parkway, off Interstate 24.

If you're bringing a large group, Buc-ee's FAQ says there's no advance ordering system, though stores are well prepared to handle large groups.

Vehicles also can't stay in the lots for extended periods, including to rest.

Other Locations, Built and Planned

Buc-ee's opened its first Tennessee store in Crossville in June 2022.

Crossville's store is in Cumberland County along Interstate 40.

If you're headed to Sevierville, you'll find the store at Exit 407 on Interstate 40 too.

WhatNow Nashville's June 2025 report listed Crossville and Sevierville as Tennessee's Buc-ee's locations.

A May 2023 release for Sevierville lists the same 74,000-square-foot floor plan and 120 fueling positions.

Buc-ee's withdrew its Clarksville plan in 2023, the television station WSMV reported.

Murfreesboro would be the chain's first store in Middle Tennessee, the radio station WGNS reports.

A Fayette County store off Interstate 40 is set to open after it.

A May 2026 roundup from Nexstar television stations lists the opening as May 2027.
