6 Giant Food Perks Virginians Never Switch On

Giant Brand products can earn you double points at Giant Food, but only after you clip a digital coupon to opt in.

With Thanksgiving shopping coming up, that’s a step worth taking now.

Here are the Giant Food perks Virginians never switch on, and how to turn them on before your next trip.

1. Welcome Bonus

If you’re not in Giant Food’s free loyalty program, Flexible Rewards, yet, joining and spending $25 or more on your next purchase gets you 1,000 points.

You can spend them on $10 off groceries or $1 off each gallon of gas, up to 20 gallons.

The fine print excludes alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, milk, lottery tickets, fuel and prescriptions.

Orders placed through Instacart or DoorDash don’t count, either.

The welcome bonus is for new accounts and runs through Dec. 31, 2026.

How Long Giant Points Last

Giant Food’s Flexible Rewards points expire on the last day of the month after you earn them.

Cash points in for a gas or grocery reward, and you get until the last day of the next month to use that reward.

2. Double Points on Giant Brand Products

Giant Brand products can earn double points at Giant Food, but only after you opt in.

You opt in by clipping a digital coupon that covers the rest of the year.

Many shoppers skip that step.

Once you’ve clipped it, Giant Brand products can earn 2 points for every $1 you spend instead of 1, with beer, wine and gift cards excluded.

Spend $100 on eligible Giant Brand items and you could collect 200 points.

You need a Flexible Rewards membership and an online account at giantfood.com for the Giant Brand offer to work.

3. Refer-a-Friend Credit

A friend you refer to Giant Food gets $35 off a first order of $100 or more.

You get $10 off your next order of $100 or more for each valid referral.

Between you and a friend, one referral can add up to $45 off.

It’s pickup or delivery only.

Standard delivery fees still apply.

What was the first product scanned at a supermarket checkout using a barcode, in 1974?

4. Points at the Pump

Giant Food lets you redeem every 100 points for 10 cents off a gallon at participating Shell and Giant gas stations.

The discount covers up to 20 gallons.

In Manassas, Giant's store page lists a gas station on Hastings Drive.

Put 500 points toward a 20-gallon fill-up and you save $10 at the pump, compared with $5 off groceries.

That's twice the savings.

5. Free Pharmacy Consultations

Giant Pharmacy in Ashburn says you can ask for a quick and free consultation.

No appointment is necessary.

That pharmacy fills prescriptions for your family and your pets while you shop.

You can get text alerts, automatic refills and easy prescription transfers there, too.

6. Digital Coupons

Giant says an online account unlocks over $300 in digital coupons every week.

Clip one online, and Giant adds the savings to your card and applies them at checkout.

The double-points opt-in is one of them.

Pharmacy Points

An on-site immunization or a non-controlled prescription at a Giant Pharmacy can earn you 100 points.

Giant's rewards page says you have to activate the offer first.

Each bonus is a dollar off a later grocery trip.

If Medicare, Medicaid or another federal or state plan pays for any part of your prescription, it doesn't qualify.

Controlled substances, off-site immunizations, curbside pickup and delivery don't qualify either.

Other Ways to Spend Points

Giant Food lets you trade points for free items at various point levels, with examples such as milk, bread, water and eggs.

You need online membership in Flexible Rewards, and the participating items can change at any time.

Special Rewards expire on a published date.

Select charities take donated points at $1 for every 100 points redeemed.

For groceries, you can redeem up to 2,000 points at once.

Point Builder Limits

Point Builder offers at Giant Food are personalized offers you can shop over the course of a month to unlock extra points.

You earn the points by activating each offer on the Earn Points offers page and then checking out.

Substituted or out-of-stock items in an online order may affect whether an offer counts.

Each offer can be redeemed once per household unless it says otherwise.

Offers can't be doubled, tripled or combined with like offers.

Delivery and Pickup Terms

Giant Food's terms let you pay for delivery and pickup orders with an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.

If Giant misses a delivery or pickup time, the fix is a later delivery at no additional charge.

You can update an order until the cutoff time on your confirmation email, but the prices adjust to those in effect when you update.

GiantPass Delivery

GiantPass is a delivery subscription you buy from Giant Food, and it auto-renews.

Delivery with GiantPass is always free.

You can cancel whenever you like.

The pass is for residential customers only.

Delivery orders have to reach a $30 minimum before you can place them.
