6 Meijer Secrets Employees Wish Hoosiers Knew
Meijer is the kind of store where you can wander for an hour and still miss something.
Hoosiers who shop there often pass up details that could make their trip easier or a little cheaper.
Here’s what to keep in mind before your next Meijer run.
1. Schedule-Ahead Vaccines
Meijer’s pharmacy takes vaccine appointments ahead of time at rx.meijer.com, according to a company release dated August 17.
You can book even before the vaccines reach the store’s inventory.
You can also manage vaccinations through the Meijer app, by texting RX to 75049, or by walking into your local Meijer Pharmacy.
You’ve got options.
Meijer offers flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), shingles and pneumonia shots, among other immunizations.
All eligible vaccine recipients can earn mPerks points, including Medicare members.
Meijer says it ran more than 200 vaccine clinics across the Midwest in 2025 and administered more than 7,000 vaccines.
If you run an organization, you can ask Meijer to bring a clinic to you through an online form.
What Meijer’s Schedule-Ahead Tool Skips
Meijer’s August 17 release said COVID vaccinations weren’t yet available through the new schedule-ahead feature, with the shot expected this fall after regulatory approval.
COVID is still listed among the immunizations Meijer offers, so ask your Meijer Pharmacy how to book one.
2. Purchases That Earn No Points
Meijer says mPerks members earn points on every dollar spent, but the fine print in a June 2025 release lists purchases that don’t count.
Alcohol and tobacco are on that list, along with lottery purchases and taxes.
Instacart orders, DoorDash orders and Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup fees don’t earn points either.
Not every dollar counts.
Gift cards, postage, prepaid phone cards and park tickets are excluded as well.
The release was about Michigan savings, but its exclusions footnote carries no state carve-out, and its only state note says points can’t be redeemed on fuel in Wisconsin.
Points you do earn go toward savings of your choice in the app, including up to $1 off each gallon of gas.
3. Indiana-Made Endcaps
Meijer’s Fishers Grocery store, its second in Indiana, opened September 30 with a “Local Favorites” endcap filled with products made in Indiana, according to the company’s release.
The endcap includes Copper Moon Coffee, Triple XXX Root Beer and Just Pop In Popcorn.
Meijer also says Spicekick, a Carmel company, sells its Chili, Taco and Sloppy Joe seasoning packets in all of Meijer’s Indiana locations.
The packets are gluten-free, dairy-free and made with no added sugar.
A Meijer store director met the founder at a trade show the year before and encouraged her to connect with Meijer’s supplier relationship team.
You can find Spicekick on “Indiana Favorites” endcaps.

4. Double Match Days
Meijer’s Simply Give hunger relief program has six Double Match Days a year.
On those days, Meijer turns each $10 you give into $30 for that store’s local pantry partner.
Meijer adds the other $20.
You add the $10 Simply Give donation card at checkout in stores, on Meijer.com or through the Meijer app.
In Westfield, Indiana, the Open Doors of Washington Township organization uses Meijer Simply Give gift cards to buy food for its programs, according to a May 2025 company release.
Meijer says Double Match Days help nearly 600 food pantries keep shelves stocked.
The company also provided food, water, grocery gift cards and other supplies in Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois during extended power and water outages.
5. Flashfood Surplus Food
Meijer’s Brownsburg supercenter, which opened May 6, features deep discounts on surplus food through the Flashfood app, according to the company’s release.
Flashfood says you check out in the app first, then pick up your order at the store.
6. Home Delivery Range
Meijer tripled its home delivery range in December 2024, from about a 20-minute radius around its stores to 60 minutes.
That reaches nearly four million additional households in rural and urban areas across the Midwest.
Indiana is one of the six states Meijer names in that release.
You may be in range.
Items can arrive in as little as three hours.
The December 2024 release said customers using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits could keep getting free home delivery in the extended zone after the launch promotion ended.
Other customers in that zone would see an extended range delivery fee, though the release doesn’t name the amount.

Inside the Grocery Format
Meijer's Fishers store has fresh meat cut daily and a bakery with in-store cake decorators.
In its Livonia release, Meijer calls itself the pioneer of the one-stop shopping concept.
More than 70,000 team members work to deliver that experience across more than 500 locations in the Midwest.
Newest Indiana Stores
Meijer's Fishers store has Shop & Scan, which the company says lets you scan barcodes and bag your items as you shop.
You also get free access to Aira, an app-based service that provides live navigation assistance to blind and low-vision customers.
Brownsburg does too.
Meijer presented $15,000 donations to Fishers Youth Initiative and Good Samaritan Network on opening day.
In Brownsburg, the company gave $10,000 each to the Brownsburg Education Foundation, Messiah Lutheran Church Food Pantry and Family Promise of Hendricks County during opening week.
9 Cold Medicine Labels Hoosiers Read Completely Wrong

Indiana caps a single cold medicine buyer at 7.2 grams of pseudoephedrine every 30 days.
