7 Publix Store Brands Georgians Should Be Buying Instead of Name Brands

Publix operates over 200 stores in Georgia, and you can find its private-label lineup in every one of them.

Some of those store-brand boxes can run less than half the price of the name brand beside them.

Many even taste better.

These are the 7 Publix store brands Georgians should be buying instead of name brands.

1. Publix Brand Corn Flakes

Publix packs its corn flakes in the same box size as Kellogg’s.

Student reporters at Stetson University’s Stet News priced that exact swap in October 2025.

They put Publix’s private-label corn flakes against Kellogg’s Corn Flakes at seven Publix stores in Palm Beach County.

The Publix box averaged $3.71 for 18 ounces.

Kellogg’s averaged $7.46 for the identical size, more than double.

Stet noted that the week before, with Publix’s BOGO running, Kellogg’s still came to $4.12 a box.

Publix publishes no policy saying prices match from store to store, so check the shelf tag at your Georgia Publix.

How Far Publix’s Label Stretches

Publix’s private-label savings don’t stop at the cereal aisle.

That same survey priced eight staples in Publix packaging against their name-brand twins, including rice, flour, canned green beans, and boxed macaroni and cheese.

The Publix versions averaged $18.31 for the whole basket.

The name brands rang up at $29.23 for the same eight items, so the Publix basket came in about 37% less.

2. Publix Deli Oven Roasted Turkey Breast

Publix’s deli counter sells two oven-roasted turkey breasts, one under the Publix label and one under Boar’s Head.

Publix Deli Oven Roasted Turkey Breast starts at $11.99 a pound, according to Publix’s website in late September 2026.

Boar’s Head Ovengold Roasted Turkey Breast starts at $15.99 a pound.

Both listings are starting prices, so the counter may charge you more.

If you pack lunch on repeat, Publix’s lower starting price is the one to check first.

Ask for a taste of the Publix side before you decide.

Same counter, lower starting price.

3. Publix Salt & Vinegar Chips

Publix sells its salt and vinegar chips alongside Lay’s.

In an undated Penny Hoarder group tasting where the tasters couldn’t see the bags the chips came from, one reviewer found Lay’s forgettable and Publix’s much more vinegary.

Try both bags.

That reviewer preferred the Publix bag.

4. Publix Bakery French Bread

Publix mixes and bakes its breads in store, and French bread sits among more than a dozen scratch-made varieties.

Packaged French bread from bigger bakeries, like La Brea Bakery, arrives par-baked.

You still have to finish it in your home oven before it’s ready to eat.

The Publix loaf skips it.

It comes out of the store’s oven, already finished and ready to slice.

It won’t pass for a Paris bakery loaf.

Still, a loaf baked in house saves you the extra oven time a par-baked one needs.

5. Publix Original Saltine Crackers

Publix Original Saltines beat a Nabisco cracker in a blind test.

Southern Living ran a blind test of seven saltine brands in 2024, Publix’s included.

Publix Original Saltines took first place, with editors singling out its toasted flavor.

Nabisco’s Premium finished second, just behind it.

Editors took the crackers out of their packaging and set them on plates, so nobody could tell which brand they were biting into.

Publix won outright.

It won on flavor and texture.

If you’re choosing saltines for soup night, the Publix box is a safe pick.

Before the last two swaps, compare all seven at a glance below, then sort or filter the table to find the swap that fits you best.

Prices come from a Stet News survey of Publix stores fielded in October 2025 and Publix’s website in late September 2026. Taste results come from Southern Living and The Penny Hoarder. Shelf prices vary by store and week.

6. Publix Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookies

Publix’s bakery case sells chocolate chip cookies that Publix describes as baked fresh daily.

A box holds 13 cookies, and Publix’s bakery bakes in an extra one on top of the usual dozen.

Chips Ahoy’s Original Chocolate Chip Cookies come in a 13-ounce bag.

If you grab Chips Ahoy, you get a packaged, shelf-stable cookie.

Publix’s come out of the store’s oven instead.

That’s fresher.

7. Publix Premium Vanilla Ice Cream

Publix Premium Vanilla ice cream took the top spot in a Southern Living blind taste test of nine store-bought vanilla ice creams in June 2026.

Ten Southern Living editors tried the tubs after a staffer pre-scooped them, so nobody could see a label.

Each editor ranked every brand from 1 to 5 and picked an overall favorite.

Half of the ten chose Publix Premium Vanilla as their favorite.

The lineup included name brands you know, such as Häagen-Dazs, Breyers, Ben & Jerry’s, Blue Bell, Edy’s and Talenti.

Walmart’s Great Value and Mayfield Vanilla Bean were in the same lineup, and neither took the top spot.

The write-up praised the vanilla flecks you can see in Publix Premium, plus its flavor and texture.

Editors said it pairs well with cake, so if you serve dessert for a crowd, it is a safe tub to grab.

The magazine also called a half-gallon tub of it a good deal, but the write-up gave no price, so compare the tags in your freezer aisle.

Publix Premium is Publix’s ice cream label, and a name brand didn’t beat it here.

Store brand, top spot.
