7 Royal Farms Habits That Give Away a Lifelong Marylander

Royal Farms is more than a gas station to many Marylanders.

It’s where you grab chicken at odd hours, and where locals have a routine they could do in their sleep.

Here are the Royal Farms habits that mark you as a true local.

1. Saying RoFo

Royal Farms is affectionately known as RoFo, says a 2021 Baltimore Magazine profile, and rumor there credits Loyola students with coining the nickname.

If you’ve ever said RoFo, you’re using a name Royal Farms now puts on ROFO Rewards, ROFO Pay and RoFo Sauce.

2. Lingering in the Parking Lot

An essay in the same profile says the Baltimore rite of passage is permission to walk to the neighborhood Royal Farms and linger there without parents.

Kids in the parking lot swap snacks and eat a second dinner or third lunch.

If you grew up near a Royal Farms, you may remember your first solo walk there.

3. Stopping for Late-Night Chicken

Royal Farms said in a 2024 release that many of its locations are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The chain prepares its fried chicken fresh in-store and keeps it available 24/7.

The chicken is always fresh and never frozen, and the kitchen pressure cooks it in small batches around the clock.

Egg-and-cheese breakfast sandwiches on croissants are available anytime of day or night.

The stores pitch themselves as a go-to place day or night for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner and fuel.

If you’re driving home late, many locations should still have chicken ready.

4. Dipping Chicken in RoFo Sauce

Royal Farms introduced RoFo Sauce in March 2026, describing a creamy dipping sauce with a savory Chesapeake-style kick.

It arrived with Tender Fest, a limited-time menu built around the chain’s hand-breaded chicken tenders.

The company called the sauce the ultimate companion for its chicken.

The sauce was available at participating locations for a limited time, and no end date was given.

Ask at the counter before you count on it.

5. Grabbing Baltimore-Made Treats

Baltimore Magazine's 2021 profile says Berger and Otterbein cookies share the checkout lines at Royal Farms.

The stores also sell Baltimore-made Cow Tales and Cloverland Dairy milk products.

Your store's shelves may differ.

6. Choosing a Coffee Roast

The fresh-food page sorts Royal Farms coffee by roast, from mild flavors such as French Vanilla and Hazelnut to Brazilian Dark Roast at the bold end.

Gourmet Blend and Jamaican Blue Mountain sit in the middle, and 100% Colombian is listed as a rich roast.

Royal Farms says a Swiss-made system grinds your choice of beans and brews each cup exactly to order.

The September 2026 release lists a $4 deal that pairs any size coffee with a Krispy Kreme donut.

7. Earning Royalty Points

Royal Farms runs ROFO Rewards, and the program's site says you can earn Royalty Points for fresh faves, free stuff, fuel savings and more.

You can pick up a ROFO Rewards card at any location and sign in to your account.

There's also a ROFO Rewards app for Apple and Android phones.

An upgrade to ROFO Pay comes with the line "Save more at the pump. Every day."

What Royal Farms ROFO Rewards Points Buy

The program sorts its reward menu into four point tiers, and the site marks the top tier as under 600 points.

A small fries, a two-piece meal and a fuel discount of 5 cents a gallon all sit in the second tier, which is marked under 250 points.

Family packs arrive in the third tier, marked under 400 points, along with a 10-cent-a-gallon fuel discount.

The fourth tier lists an accessory and a 20-cent-a-gallon fuel discount.

Cloverland Dairy Roots

A 2024 Royal Farms release says the chain was established as a subsidiary of Cloverland Dairy, a family-owned business with deep roots in the dairy industry.

A November 2024 profile of the dairy in Dairy Processing says Cloverland also owns Royal Farms convenience stores.

Baltimore Magazine says RoFo was born out of Cloverland Farms Dairy, a Baltimore company.

The family behind Cloverland still runs the company, now in its third generation.

Western Fries

Royal Farms says it hand-cuts its Western Fries, hand-breads them and cooks them in-store.

The fries are pressure cooked in the same oil as the chicken.

So if you order a box of both, one oil cooks your chicken and your fries.

September 2026 Menu Deals

Royal Farms' September 2026 release lists a $15 Chicken & Coke Meal built around an 8-piece mixed chicken order or a 10-piece dark-meat order.

A 2-liter bottle of Coca-Cola comes with the meal.

For breakfast, there's a $3.99 Chicken Sausage Breakfast Sandwich on your choice of biscuit, croissant or Texas toast.

Confirm the details at your location first.

Chickenpalooza Food Drives

Royal Farms' 2026 Chickenpalooza ran as a limited-time promotion from July 1 through September 1, the company's release says.

A portion of the proceeds from every Chickenpalooza menu item would go to local hunger relief groups, including the Maryland Food Bank.

That 2026 campaign supported food banks across all eight states where Royal Farms operates.

Eight-State Footprint

The September 2026 release says Royal Farms has over 300 locations.

The locations are in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
