7 Things Minnesotans Grab at Kwik Trip That Out-of-Staters Don’t Understand
At Kwik Trip, you can pick your bananas by when you plan to eat them.
Buying fruit at a gas station sounds odd, until you’ve been to a Kwik Trip in Minnesota.
Here’s what Minnesotans grab at Kwik Trip that out-of-staters don’t understand.
1. Glazers
Some out-of-staters hear the word Glazer at Kwik Trip and have to ask what it is.
Kwik Trip says it bakes Glazers 365 days a year.
Glazers first hit stores in 2003, after more than a year of research and development.
The research team refined the recipe on the overnight shift’s open fryers.
The sweets bakery made about 45 million Glazers a year, a Milwaukee TV station reported in 2024.
That’s roughly 120,000 Glazers a day.
A Glazer or a cake donut is one of the rewards you can pick through Kwik Rewards.
If you ask for a Glazer at Kwik Trip, you’ll get a glazed donut.
2. Bananas
You can buy bananas at Kwik Trip in two ripeness stages.
Pick yellow if you want one now, and green if you’re planning ahead.
Kwik Trip sells over 35 million pounds of bananas a year.
How Kwik Trip Ripens Its Bananas
The bananas leave Central America green.
Before they reach you, they come through Port Houston or the Port of New Orleans.
The company buys its bananas on the futures market.
In February 2026, it had 10 ripening rooms at its La Crosse, Wisconsin, headquarters.
Ethylene gas speeds up the ripening in those rooms.
Each room has space for over 41,000 pounds of bananas.
A Madison TV station found green bananas at four Kwik Trip stores near Madison in February 2026, after severe weather in the South delayed shipments.
Kwik Trip’s chief executive said nearly every banana it sells goes through the ripening rooms.
So the yellow banana you grab has likely been through one.
3. Nature’s Touch Milk
Kwik Trip sells milk under its Nature’s Touch brand.
The company bottles over 80,000 gallons of milk a day, from farms within 100 miles of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
The dairy filled 65 million jugs and bottles with milk in 2023.
After 15 visits, you can pick a Nature’s Touch milk or orange juice pint as your Kwik Rewards reward.
4. Cheese Mountain Pizza
Cheese Mountain is a pizza, and Kwik Trip’s homepage listed a sale on it for October 15 and 16.
Thin crust was $6.99, and traditional was $9.99.
Pick thin crust, and you’d pay $3 less.
Cheese Mountain is a large pie that can be cut into six slices.
Some out-of-staters don’t expect a gas station to sell a pizza called Cheese Mountain.
Kwik Trip says its kitchens make 40,000 pizzas a day.

5. Bismarks
Kwik Trip's Bake Sale page listed custard-filled Bismarks among its premium donuts.
Dictionary.com spells the word bismarck and defines it as a jelly donut, chiefly in the Northern U.S.
If you picture jelly when you hear Bismark, Kwik Trip's custard-filled version may surprise you.
Its bakery can make 328 Bismarks a minute, the National Association of Convenience Stores reported in 2024.
That's over five a second.
Long johns, cinnamon rolls and muffins are made in-house.
6. Heartland Ice Cream
Heartland by Nature's Touch is an ice cream line Kwik Trip introduced in 2026.
Kwik Trip describes the pints as rich, creamy, classic flavors inspired by the Midwest.
The pints were listed at $3.99 each in June 2026.
The dairy made up to 8,000 gallons of Nature's Touch ice cream a day in early 2024.
Vanilla was the most popular flavor.
For a limited time, a pint you bought could hide a Golden Scoop token.
The grand prize was a guided tour of Kwik Trip's dairy in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
It came with 100 free pint coupons in your Kwik Rewards account and a $500 gift card.
One of the eight winners listed was from Rushford, Minnesota.
7. Urge Snacks
Kwik Trip launched Urge, its snack line, in 1987.
The Urge page lists candy, popcorn, pretzels, nuts, trail mix, jerky and chips.
One chip is called No Dip Required!, which Canadians know as all dressed.
In early 2026, Urge added two candy bars named Kwikz and WannaBe.
If you ever bought Glazers-flavored potato chips, you bought Urge.
Fresh Bread
Kwik Trip says you can pick up fresh bread baked every day, including 10 different varieties.
The bakery was making about 225 loaves of bread a minute in January 2024.
Buns came out at about 1,600 a minute.
Dunkers
If you've had a Blueberry Dunker, you've had a Kwik Trip donut introduced in 2013.
Over nine million Blueberry Dunkers were produced in 2023.
You could have picked up Pink Lemonade Dunkers the week of June 23, 2024, when they were due in stores, including in Minnesota.
Raspberry Dunkers came before that, at the start of 2024.
In May 2024, Kwik Trip made the Blueberry Dunker into a limited-time potato chip.
Pizza Fundraisers
Kwik Trip runs a Cheese Mountain pizza fundraising program for groups.
Your group buys the pizzas at a discounted price, then sets the selling price per slice.
Groups choose whether a local Kwik Trip store bakes the pizzas or hands them over unbaked.
Kwik Trip provides a four-shelf warming display unit and a pizza oven at no charge.
You can use that equipment only for Cheese Mountain pizzas.
Limited-Time Items
In April 2025, you could grab a limited-time Urge chip in a roller grill hot dog flavor.
In June 2025, Kwik Trip brought the Chunka Lunka cookie back to its Hot Spot menu for a limited time.
Kwik Trip describes the cookie as rich and packed with chocolate chunks.
The return was in honor of the company turning 60 that year.
The cookie first appeared on the Hot Spot menu in 2003.
