Publix Is Opening 4 New Stores in 3 States by Oct. 28
A new Publix nearby can mean a pharmacy drive-thru, a deli counter and a bakery closer to home.
North Carolinians, Floridians and Kentuckians are getting new Publix stores before the month is out.
Here’s where each one opens, and what to know before your first visit.
Rockfish Road in Fayetteville
Publix opens its Rockfish Village store at 7483 Rockfish Road in Fayetteville at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, so you can shop there this morning.
It’s the first of the four new stores to open.
If you shop in Fayetteville, CBS17 reported in 2024 that this would be a second Publix there, a little over eight miles from the first on Raeford Road.
The 48,387-square-foot store will employ approximately 140 associates.
Publix says it is glad to open a new store in Fayetteville, as the Shelby Report tells it.
Cortez Road in Bradenton
Publix’s Bradenton store at 7535 Cortez Road West is set to open on Oct. 22, according to USA Today’s list of the company’s October openings, which has no other Florida store opening in October.
Publix has 897 stores in Florida, its home state.
If you search Publix’s store locator, you’ll find the site listed as SeaFlower Village Center.
Northchase Center’s 55,701-square-foot Publix on State Road 64 East opened June 11, so if you live in Bradenton, you’ll see another Publix open about four months later.

Jenkins Drive in Independence
USA Today's list also has Publix's Independence store, at 5135 Jenkins Drive, opening Oct. 28.
If you live in Northern Kentucky, it's your region's fourth Publix, coming three weeks after Florence became the third on Oct. 7.
The other three are in Walton, Cold Spring and Florence.
Publix's locator lists a pharmacy with a drive-thru for Independence, along with beer but not wine.
Publix entered Kentucky in 2024 with a store in Louisville, and Florence was its 10th Kentucky store in less than three years.
The company has also announced plans for 16 additional locations in the state.
A fifth Northern Kentucky store is reportedly set for Hebron.
Ocean Highway in Calabash
Publix opens its Commons at Carolina Shores store in Calabash, in Brunswick County, at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The address is 9770 Ocean Highway West.
The 46,791-square-foot supermarket will employ approximately 140 workers.
Publix says it plans to keep serving the Calabash community for years, as WECT tells it.
Your options there include a Publix Pharmacy with a drive-thru, plus wine and beer, according to the locator.
Calabash or Sunset Beach?
Publix's store locator lists the new Publix at 9770 Ocean Hwy W, Calabash, NC 28467.
WECT's report carries a Calabash dateline, and Retail Customer Experience also puts the store in Calabash.
USA Today's list calls it Sunset Beach.
If your map app can't find one name, search the street address instead.
What Each Store Offers
Publix's store locator lists the same departments at all four stores, which are floral, meats and cheeses, produce, bakery, deli and seafood.
Each page also lists a Publix Pharmacy with a drive-thru.
The listed services are check cashing, coin counting, money orders, money transfers, a Presto! ATM and recycling.
Fayetteville, Bradenton and Calabash list wine and beer, while Independence lists beer only.
In-store pickup and online bakery cake ordering appear only on the Fayetteville and Bradenton pages.
None of the four pages lists store hours yet.
If you fill prescriptions or plan to pick up an order, check the page for your store before you make the first trip.
Where the Dates Come From
Publix's store locator showed all four stores as Opening Soon on Oct. 19, with no opening date posted.
That means you'll rely on news coverage for each date.
Fayetteville's date comes from a Sept. 28 trade report and Calabash's from a Sept. 29 local TV story, while Bradenton's and Independence's come from USA Today's Oct. 9 list.
That list has seven October openings, so the table below adds the three that have already opened, Owensboro on Oct. 3 at 50,325 square feet, and Florence (55,817) and Athens, Alabama (46,791), on Oct. 7.
Dates can shift, so confirm yours before you plan an opening-day trip.

Publix in North Carolina
Publix has 63 stores in North Carolina, so you may already have one nearby.
Its first North Carolina store opened in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte in 2014.
Durham's Latta Park store at 4628 Guess Road opened April 11 and covers 41,744 square feet.
The Mills River store at 70 Vance Hill Drive opened Aug. 13 and covers 50,325 square feet.
With Fayetteville and Calabash, Publix will have opened at least four North Carolina stores in 2026.
Mills River is the largest of the four at 50,325 square feet, followed by Fayetteville at 48,387, Calabash at 46,791 and Durham at 41,744.
WLOS reported in July that the Mills River store would fill 140 positions, close to the 140 associates expected at both new North Carolina stores.
The two new North Carolina stores open a week apart, Fayetteville on Oct. 21 and Calabash on Oct. 28.
That gives you two chances this month to shop a brand-new Publix in North Carolina.
