9 Precautions Pennsylvanians Should Take When Shopping at Aldi

If an Aldi coupon online asks you to finish a survey first, it isn’t a real Aldi coupon.

Aldi says it doesn’t offer online coupons, and a Pittsburgh TV station described a fake one back in 2017 that promised $40 for a survey.

Here are the precautions Pennsylvanians should take when shopping at Aldi.

1. Limited-Stock Finds

Each Find is available for a limited time and while supplies last, according to Aldi’s Finds FAQ.

Aldi can’t place holds on Finds or give you a rain check when a Find sells out, so we’d plan around that.

The FAQ recommends visiting a store as soon as possible after the product goes on sale.

Each store can also limit quantities, so you might not get to clear the shelf.

No chain keeps every shelf full, and Finds inventory can vary by location.

An October 2026 report counted 174 Aldi stores in Pennsylvania, so a Find missing from your store may still be on the shelf at another Pennsylvania store.

How Aldi Previews Its Finds

Finds are advertised on Aldi’s website a week in advance, according to the weekly-ads FAQ.

Aldi distributes the weekly ads only via local newspapers.

If your local paper doesn’t carry the ad, you can view the ads online, sign up for the weekly newsletter or pick up the flyer as you leave a store.

Many stores begin Finds on Wednesdays, and the weekly email always goes out on a Wednesday.

2. 14-Day Receipt Window

Aldi will adjust the price of a Find within 14 days of your purchase if it drops at the store where you bought it.

Aldi wants the receipt back at that same store.

Keep it.

If you pass the Finds aisle again within two weeks, compare the shelf tag with what you paid.

Seasonal items and items Aldi sells on a regular basis don’t qualify for price adjustments, so a later drop on those earns you nothing back.

3. Coupons Aldi Won’t Take

According to its FAQ, Aldi is unable to accept manufacturer’s coupons, so the coupons you clip for another store won’t save you anything here.

It doesn’t accept coupons past their expiration date either.

It also doesn’t offer online coupons, so any coupon found online or on social media isn’t a legitimate Aldi coupon.

One fake offer circulated in 2017, when a Pittsburgh television station described a fake Aldi coupon on Facebook that promised $40 to shoppers who finished a survey.

Aldi answered on Facebook that it doesn’t offer electronic coupons and wouldn’t accept them.

If an online coupon asks you to finish a survey first, leave the page and skip it.

4. Checks, WIC and Gift Cards

Aldi doesn’t accept checks or Women, Infants and Children (WIC) benefits, according to its payment FAQ.

If you plan to use either, bring a backup way to pay.

Aldi doesn’t sell gift cards online at this time, so an online offer for an Aldi gift card deserves a second look.

Aldi deactivates a gift card that sits at a $0.00 balance for over 90 days, and the card can’t be reloaded after that.

You can check a card’s balance online or at your local Aldi store.

5. Checking Recalls Before You Eat

Nearly 90% of the items on Aldi shelves are exclusive brands, according to a May 2026 company release.

In late 2025, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allergy alert covered two Choceur holiday barks that their maker, Silvestri Sweets, said were distributed nationwide through Aldi.

The Cookie Butter bark might contain undeclared pecans, and the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon bark might contain undeclared wheat.

The FDA posted the alert under the maker’s name, not Aldi’s.

That recall is closed now.

The FDA’s page lists it as terminated, and the best-by dates on both barks have passed.

A 2017 Aldi recall on Choceur dark chocolate bars named Pennsylvania among the states in its notice, but that bar’s best-by date passed in July 2018.

Aldi’s recall page lists each recall as a dated headline, grouped by year.

It covers more than food, including a pressure cooker recalled in October 2025 for a serious burn hazard.

The page points shoppers to recalls.gov and the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s site for more information.

Look up the brand name on anything you bought a while ago before you eat or use it.

6. Online Order Prices

Aldi’s pricing FAQ says there may be a slight increase on certain items sold online to cover the cost of personal shopping.

The same page lists a $10 minimum for all deliveries and says fees depend on factors such as the delivery window and order size.

Aldi’s January 2026 growth release names Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats as delivery partners.

Price a few staples in the store, then check the same items online before you place an order, since the same cart can cost more online.

7. Checking Shelf Prices at Your Store

Aldi’s pricing FAQ answers the price-matching question with a no, saying it doesn’t match competitors’ prices because it negotiates low prices.

Prices can differ by city because of factors such as costs, market conditions, local regulations, demand and competition, the page adds.

The same product may be cheaper at another Aldi location.

Before you plan a budget around a price from a competitor’s ad or a different Aldi, find the shelf price at your store.

8. Guarding Your Card and Receipt

Aldi cashiers don’t bag groceries, according to the store-information FAQ.

They place your items directly into a cart, and you bag them after checking out in the designated bagging areas.

Put your card and receipt away before you start bagging.

The same FAQ includes an entry for shoppers who left a debit or credit card at a store.

Its answer is to return to the store and speak with a manager.

A copy of a receipt takes the same trip.

You return to the store where you made the purchase, bring the card used for payment and ask to speak with a manager.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says ground coffee averaged $9.33 a pound in September 2026. What did it average in January 1990?

9. Thanksgiving Meal Start Dates

Aldi's Thanksgiving meal for 10 runs from Oct. 14 through Nov. 25, but its ingredients don't all arrive at once.

The footnotes in Aldi's Thanksgiving release list cranberries as available starting Oct. 26, the Farmer's Choice turkey starting Nov. 4 and the pumpkin pie mix starting Nov. 11.

The release adds that the actual price will vary based on available product, selections and location.

A trip on Nov. 2 could fill your cart with cranberries and still come up short on turkey and pie mix.

Nov. 11 is the first date all three are listed as available, which leaves 14 days before the meal's Nov. 25 end date.

Aldi stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, which is Nov. 26 this year.

Nov. 25 is the last day of the promotion before Aldi closes on Thanksgiving Day.
