America’s 21 Favorite Ice Cream Flavors To Try This Summer
Whether you love eating your ice cream in a cone or cup and loading it with sprinkles or forgoing toppings, one thing is certain: Americans love their ice cream.
Summer is around the corner, with states like Florida and Texas already feeling the heat. So, there’s no better time than now to start your list of ice cream flavors to try this year.
Data company YouGov polled Americans to determine their favorite ice cream flavors. Our advice? Stick with reading through the list, for once you get past the first few more traditional flavors, Americans show just how unique many like their ice cream.
Ranking Ice Cream Flavors

YouGov polled 1,000 Americans ages 18 years and older about their ice cream preferences. They offered 21 flavor options, which participants could choose from. They also had the choice to select “other” ice cream flavors.
The survey started by asking participants, “Which flavors of ice cream do you like?” Those surveyed could choose as many flavors as they wanted.
From there, of the ice cream flavors they liked, participants had to choose a single ice cream flavor as their favorite. The following rankings reveal the results in order of the most likable ice cream.
By the Pound

You’ll be hard-pressed to find an American that says they hate ice cream. But just how much ice cream does the average American consume?
According to the International Dairy Foods Association, Americans eat around 20 pounds of ice cream every year. That’s approximately four gallons!
However, German-born Andre Ortolf has nothing on Americans — or anyone else in the world, for that matter. He holds the Guinness World Record for the most amount of ice cream eaten in 30 seconds: 1 pound, 4 ounces. I have a brain freeze just thinking about it.
Flavor Overload

If the flavors on YouGov’s list bored you, perhaps a Cheetos Flamin’ Hot ice cream cone is more your style. Is that still not out there enough for you? Maybe Kraft’s macaroni and cheese limited addition flavor will do the trick.
Some ice cream companies even appear to be leaning into the healthy eating movement. OddFellows Ice Cream sells an extra virgin olive oil ice cream flavor, and Rococo Creamery sells a sweet avocado cayenne variety.
I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to have ice cream, I don’t want to mix it with the latest health food crazes.
