5 Raley’s Something Extra Rules That Cost Californians Money

You scan your Something Extra number, grab your groceries and drive off feeling like a winner.

At Raley’s, a few small rules could say otherwise.

Here’s where Californians lose money without noticing, and how to keep it.

1. Your Number at Checkout

Raley’s Member Prices apply when you enter your Something Extra number, scan your app barcode in store or log in online.

Look for the black Member Price message on shelf tags and online listings.

Members enter their phone number at checkout.

Member Prices change weekly and end on the date shown on the tag or online.

Last week’s price may lapse.

Raley’s $5 Member Monday prices are valid on Mondays only.

2. Pump Reward Spending Tiers

Pump Rewards at Raley’s depend on grocery spending: 10 cents per gallon at $100 or more, 25 cents at $150 and 50 cents at $200.

If your groceries total $195, you earn 25 cents per gallon instead of 50.

That’s $3.75 less on a 15-gallon fill.

Five dollars made the difference.

Alcohol, tax, online shopping handling fees and California Refund Value (CRV) charges don’t count toward Pump Rewards.

California’s CRV fee is added to the price of the beverage when you buy it.

That means your receipt total can be higher than the spending that counts toward a tier.

You earn Pump Rewards only at participating Raley’s Family of Fine Stores, and your Something Extra number has to be entered or your card scanned at the register.

3. 30-Gallon and 60-Day Pump Limits

A Raley’s Pump Reward covers a single fuel transaction of up to 30 gallons.

At 50 cents a gallon, that tops out at $15.

Each reward lasts 60 days.

When you hold several, Raley’s applies the highest-value reward first, regardless of expiration date.

A lower-value reward can expire while you redeem the bigger reward.

If two rewards share the top value, the reward that expires soonest goes first.

Raley’s allows one Pump Reward per redemption, and rewards can’t be combined.

You can view your earned Pump Rewards in your Something Extra account.

You redeem at an Aisle 1 Fuel Station by entering your Something Extra number.

4. Final 500-Point Cutoff

Something Extra’s final Dollars went to accounts with at least 500 points, but only if an email or mailing address was saved to the online account.

Raley’s checked for those 500 points at the end of a points-earning period.

Raley’s rounded the conversion to the nearest dollar.

Members could take those Dollars digitally online or as a paper voucher mailed to them.

To use a Dollars document, the net price of your eligible items has to meet or exceed its value.

Smaller orders don’t qualify.

That rules out a $20 document on a $15 order.

You have to redeem the entire balance and pay the rest another way, including excluded items.

Dollars may not cover milk, alcohol, tax or fees such as CRV bottle-and-can charges and online shopping handling or delivery fees.

A Dollars document has an expiration date.

Dollars aren’t redeemable for cash and can’t be transferred.

Raley’s can cancel a membership after three consecutive years without use.

Unused Dollars are forfeited at that point and can’t be redeemed even if you re-enroll.

5. Phone-Only Account Limits

At Raley’s, a phone-only Something Extra Member gets fewer savings than a Digital Member.

A Member signed up with just a phone number, while a Digital Member completed an account with both an email address and a phone number.

Raley’s lists personalized offers, digital offers, Extra Perks, birthday offers and extra offers only under Digital Member.

The $10 off $25 welcome offer is Digital-only too.

Extra Perks bring dollars-off offers based on how Members shop, plus department deals and surprise perks.

You can text the word Join to 765765 to create an account for in-store use with member pricing at checkout.

Clipping offers, Extra Perks, digital offers and online shopping need the full digital sign-up with an email address.

Texting alone doesn’t unlock them.

If you’re a phone-only Member, finishing your account gives you access to personalized offers, extra perks and more.
