15 Things Florida Publix Shoppers Always Buy on BOGO That Everyone Else Pays Full Price For
There’s a certain type of Florida Publix shopper who never pays full price for the things that matter most.
They’re not using coupons from a Sunday paper, nor are they downloading seventeen different apps.
They’ve just learned which products cycle through the Publix BOGO (buy one, get one free) rotation regularly enough to wait them out.
Here are 15 things Florida Publix regulars almost never pay full price for, thanks to BOGO.
1. Chicken Breasts
Boneless skinless chicken breasts go BOGO at Publix on a reliable enough rotation that Florida shoppers have learned to stock the freezer when it happens.
You’re buying two packs, which for some people, may feel like a lot in the moment.
It’s not as long as you own a freezer.
Chicken breasts are a weekly staple for many households, and at BOGO prices, you’re essentially getting a week’s worth of protein for half the cost.
Florida shoppers grab two, freeze what they don’t use immediately, and don’t think about it again until the next BOGO rolls around.
2. Publix Deli Subs
The Publix sub is already a beloved part of Florida culture. On BOGO, it tastes even better (we might be exaggerating here, but it’s really good).
Publix periodically puts its subs on BOGO, and Florida shoppers who know to watch for it plan their week accordingly.
Two subs for the price of one is an easy lunch situation for a family, a work crew, or anyone who’s discovered that a Pub Sub holds up well in the refrigerator for a day or two.
You buy two.
You don’t regret it.
3. Gatorade
Florida and Gatorade have a relationship that goes beyond normal sports drink loyalty.
The drink was literally invented for the University of Florida Gators, and the state has never really gotten over it.
Gatorade cycles through Publix BOGO regularly, and Florida shoppers stock up every single time.
Between the heat, the outdoor activities, and the general hydration demands of living somewhere that feels like a sauna from May through October, a case of Gatorade in the garage is just responsible Florida living.
BOGO is when you build that case.
4. Sunscreen
Florida Publix shoppers treat the sunscreen BOGO like a scheduled event.
You need two. You need at least two.
One for the beach bag, one for the house, one for the car, and somehow you’re already out.
Sunscreen is expensive at full price, and the BOGO rotation at Publix is consistent enough that Florida regulars have learned to wait for it.
Coppertone, Neutrogena, Banana Boat.
When any of them go BOGO, you grab two, and you don’t look back.
5. Ice Cream
Florida has two seasons. Hot and slightly less hot.
Ice cream is relevant in both.
Publix puts ice cream on BOGO frequently, and Florida shoppers have learned to keep the freezer stocked accordingly.
The Publix brand ice cream is already good. On BOGO it’s an obvious yes.
You buy two, you put them both in the freezer, and the household is happy for the next two weeks.
Simple math.
6. Laundry Detergent
This is the unglamorous BOGO that Florida shoppers understand the value of completely.
Laundry detergent doesn’t go bad.
It doesn’t take up much space relative to how long it lasts, and it’s consistently one of the better BOGO deals Publix runs because the full price on name brands like Tide and Gain is through the roof.
Florida shoppers who’ve made the laundry detergent BOGO part of their routine spend noticeably less on it over the course of a year.
It’s not exciting. It’s just smart.
7. Orange Juice
Florida orange juice loyalty runs deep. This is the state where the orange juice comes from, and Publix shoppers here take it seriously.
Tropicana and Florida’s Natural both cycle through BOGO regularly, and Florida shoppers know to grab two when it happens.
OJ gets used fast in households that actually drink it.
At BOGO prices, stocking two containers makes complete sense.
It feels appropriate that Florida shoppers save money on orange juice.
8. Pasta and Pasta Sauce
Pasta is a pantry staple with a long shelf life, which makes it one of the best BOGO categories.
Publix runs BOGO on pasta brands like Barilla and on pasta sauces like Rao’s and Classico on a regular rotation.
Florida shoppers who cook at home grab multiple sets when these go on sale.
A pantry stocked with BOGO pasta and sauce is a pantry that can handle a busy week, a hurricane prep situation, or both simultaneously.
9. Sparkling Water
Between the heat and the general preference for something that feels like a treat without being a soda, sparkling water is a serious household staple in Florida.
LaCroix, Bubly, and Topo Chico all rotate through Publix BOGO, and Florida shoppers buy two cases without hesitation.
Buy both. Stack them in the pantry.
Repeat in six weeks.
10. Shampoo and Conditioner
Personal care BOGOs at Publix are some of the best deals in the store, and Florida shoppers who pay attention to the rotation never pay full price for shampoo.
Brands like Pantene, Herbal Essences, and TRESemmé cycle through regularly.
You buy two. One goes under the sink, one goes in the shower.
It lasts for months, and you spent half of what you would have otherwise.
Florida shoppers who’ve built this habit into their routine genuinely can’t remember the last time they paid full price for shampoo.
11. Frozen Shrimp
Florida’s relationship with shrimp is serious and well-documented.
When frozen shrimp goes BOGO at Publix, Florida shoppers treat it as a minor occasion. Two bags go in the freezer, and suddenly, weeknight dinners are significantly more delicious.
Shrimp tacos, shrimp pasta, shrimp on the grill.
Florida has dozens of uses for shrimp, and all of them benefit from having a stocked freezer.
BOGO is when you make that happen.
12. Coffee
Coffee is a daily habit for most Florida households, which makes the Publix coffee BOGO one of the more impactful deals in the rotation.
Folgers, Starbucks, Dunkin’, and Green Mountain all make appearances in the Publix BOGO cycle throughout the year.
You buy two bags or two canisters, you put one away, and you’ve essentially bought yourself a month of coffee at half the normal cost.
Florida shoppers who drink coffee every morning, which is most of them, have made this a non-negotiable part of their Publix strategy.
13. Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
Bulk paper goods on BOGO is the kind of deal that feels almost too good to pass up.
Publix runs BOGO on Bounty, Scott, and Charmin periodically, and Florida shoppers who have the storage space go deep on these deals.
Paper towels and toilet paper don’t expire.
It’s hard to find a downside to having extra.
Florida shoppers who’ve stocked up on these during BOGO sales have also quietly felt very prepared during the early pandemic paper shortage, hurricane season runs on supplies, and every other moment where having extras in the closet turned out to be a good call.
14. Sports Drinks and Electrolyte Packets
Beyond Gatorade, Florida shoppers keep an eye on the broader sports drink and electrolyte category at Publix.
Liquid IV, Pedialyte, Powerade, and Bodyarmor all rotate through the BOGO cycle, and in a state where dehydration is a genuine warm-weather concern, these are practical purchases.
Florida parents especially pay attention to this one.
Between kids’ sports, outdoor activities, and the general demands of a Florida summer, having a stocked supply of electrolyte products at BOGO prices is just sensible parenting.
15. Cereal
Cereal BOGOs at Publix are frequent and the savings are real, because cereal at full price has gotten ridiculously expensive.
A box of name-brand cereal can run $5 or $6 at full price.
On BOGO that drops to around $2.50 to $3 a box, which is a completely different conversation.
Florida shoppers with kids especially know to watch for these.
You buy two boxes, the kids eat through them in a week and a half, and you’ve spent half of what you would have on a Tuesday with no planning involved.
A Word of Warning
Florida Publix BOGO doesn’t work the way it does in many other states, and this catches newcomers off guard.
You have to buy both BOGO items to get the deal. There’s no buying one and expecting it to ring up at 50% off at the register.
That works in Georgia, North Carolina, and beyond, not in Florida.
If you grab just one of a BOGO item and head to checkout, you’re paying full price. Simple as that.
It sounds obvious until you’re standing in the aisle, you only need one, and the deal is right there taunting you. The math only works if you actually need two, have room to store two, or can freeze one for later.
When in doubt, check the shelf tag and make sure you’ve got both items in your cart before you walk away.

But beware… only true Publix insiders can score a perfect 10.

Is there any must shop days to get these prices I have transportation issues and can’t go every day to see what is BOGO is there a flyer or sign up
Download the Publix App. It gives the weekly ad which shows the BOGO plus things on sale. It also gives Digital Coupons that you can select. Then at checkout, just enter your phone number you setup app with on keypad to pay to receive credit.
I suspect that many of the BOGO items at Publix have prices increased before they go BOGO. Publix Ice Cream is normally $5.69, but when on BOGO the normal price shows $8.61 while all the other ice creams are listed at $6.49. So, BOGO ice cream markup only causes a lose of $2.72 vs $5.69. I noticed the BOGO price change on other products also. So…you are not truly getting 50% deals as originally thought.
